Today, via emulators, I played three classic games for classic computers of the 1980s: Hungry Horace for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum Super Advanced Breakout for the Oric-1 Frogger for the Commodore 64
So on that note, what are some of the video games you've played lately?

Since my first post I played the following (again with emulators) Gobble De Spook for the Lynx (no, not the handheld, but an obscure computer from the 1980s that very few people have heard of) Quackers for the Commodore Vic-20 (a very popular computer in its day) Drunk Driver for the Jupiter Ace (a failed 1980s computer, very few were sold, and much of its software is lost. Luckily, it has fanboys, who have digitised as much of its software as possible, and emulators of it are fairly common)
Gobble de Spook is a mediocre Pac-Man clone, moderately fun. Quackers is a carnival shooting gallery type game, pretty fun. Drunk Driver is an example of the vertically-scrolling racing game genre (nearly every home computer of the early 1980s seems to have had an example of this), very simplistic but surprisingly enjoyable.

I've since played a quick game of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch. A very nice game I need to play more often.

Some games I have been playing over the last few weeks have been
Donkey Kong 64 (I am on the final level again now and have just about finished it) New Donkey Kong Country Returns (The hardest Donkey Kong game I have played. I can beat Donkey Kong Country 2 in less than a week playing it once a night but this one never gets easier ) Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric (I got this game years ago and never played it all the way through. It got a lot of bad reviews for not being like other Sonic games but after replaying it and making it up to Bygone Island I don't think this game is anywhere near as bad as some people make out it is and I have enjoyed parts of it. I love playing as Tails and Amy!!) Rayman Origins (Love this!! We need a sequel to Rayman Origins and Legends to make it a trilogy) Yooka-Laylee (Very similar to Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Donkey Kong 64 and Conker's Bad Fur Day which I loved.) The Simpsons: Hit and Run (I would love it if they re-released this game or put it on the Nintendo e Shop or X Box One store) Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds (Same as the above!) Batman Arkham Origins

I've made it my goal that during this month I will play at least one game for as many different 1980s systems as possible.
Via the original hardware, today I played: Death Race 16 for the Commodore 16 (a computer popular in parts of Europe, but now forgotten compared to the better-remembered Commodore 64 and Commodore Vic-20). The game is simplistic but fun. However, loading it from cassette takes ages!
Monaco GP for the Sega SC-3000H (a computer from Sega. Yes, really, though its functions as a computer are quite limited). Pleasant game.
Via emulators, I played the following: Snapper for the BBC Micro (a computer popular in Britain, but little known elsewhere. Yes, it was named after the broadcaster). The game is a Pac-Man clone, and a very well done one.
Lost World Pinball for the Radio Shack MC-10 (a very unsuccessful computer. It was very inexpensive, but also very under-powered). A good game.
Speed Racer for the Dragon 32 (a home computer from Wales, of all places. It was a clone of the Radio Shack Color Computer. Radio Shack found out about this, but did not complain. The Dragon 32 was originally popular but its success was short-lived). A very good game, which seems to have no relation to the show of the same name.
Pinball (Microbyte) for the Acorn Electron (A UK computer. A fairly popular computer, but short-lived. However, many games were released for it). An OK game.

I play a lot of NES Tetris hoping to get good and it's not happening. My highest score is 191k.
I also play a lot of Contra. I can beat it without the Konami code!

mrellaguru The NES version of Tetris is very underrated! I consider it the "official" version because it's what they play in the championships. They make this incredibly, incredibly difficult game look easy.

Simpsons Tapped Out I just downloaded Pocket Mortys because I thought it was Rick and Morty emojis but it's some type of game. I might try it some day.

mrellaguru Do you ever have Tetris dreams? I haven't, but sometimes if I have played the game enough, I play it in my mind in the moments before I fall asleep....

It's 100 times better than Returns and is a truly great DK game.

Yooka Laylee. It's enjoyable but extremely lackluster. I'm a huge Banjo Kazooie fan, and a fan of the 3D platformer genre in general, but Yooka Laylee just isn't that much fun. The worlds are empty and the challenges are too simplistic. The characters are very fun to control though.

i usually play gta sa on my ps2 maybe 2 times a week for about 15 minutes. i never follow the story just put all the cheat codes in and get into a crazy police chase/killing spree. besides that i sometimes use emulators to play old nes and super nes games.
a couple weeks ago i went to a retro arcade in asbury park and played some of the first pinball machines and light games plus some 80s arcade games.
