Unlike the majority of people, I liked the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman when they were 1st announced. I knew they would be great in those roles. The only major casting I didn't like (and still don't like) was Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.
After watching War for the Planet of the Apes, I think Woody Harrelson would've been great as Lex Luthor. Do you think Woody Harrelson would've been a good fit for the Lex Luthor role?

I think Harrelson would've been pretty good. I still wouldn't be opposed to the writers bringing Lex Sr. back (they said he was dead, right?).
Maybe that could introduce the Lazarus Pit or something. Granted, I don't know much on the Lazarus Pit or how it works. It's always an interesting idea, though.
I think they want a shot at the classic Lex, so I wouldn't really be all that surprised if they do something to bring him back.

They should have gone with Clancy Brown. He does amazing voice work as Lex in the cartoon and even looks like him. He's pulled off the bald look to with Kurgan in the Highlander. He can bring the proper sophistication and menace needed for the character. And Bryan Cranston would have been good too. I know most only suggested him because he went bald in Breaking Bad, but he could pull off a good Lex Luthor too. However, I don't see Cranston quite agreeing to the role with how bad and messy BvS was. I've read that he has a specific way of choosing the scripts and deciding whether to do the movie or not and BvS probably wouldn't have made the cut.

Hmm, haven't thought of him. I'd have gone with either Bryan Cranston, Mark Strong, Joaquin Phoenix, Michael C. Hall or Billy Zane (where the hell did he go?).

I wish Phoenix had said yes to the role, he would have done wonders in the role.

I'd say it's also because he plays such a great criminal genius in it. These are all great suggestions, but ultimately I don't think it matters who played Lex because the writing and direction were so terrible. Even Eisenberg could have worked, given Social Network esque material.

Harrelson is a good character actor,he actually might of been good in the role. My favorite choices were Billy Zane and Mark Strong

while Eisenberg wouldn't be my ideal pick, the problem with Luthor was the writing, not the casting.
not too sure about Harrelson. i like him a lot and he could probably pull it off but he doesn't seem quite right for it.
i really liked Spacey for the role but that didn't exactly work out.

After watching Season 5 of the TV series Elementary, and seeing Jonny Lee Miller bald, it suddenly struck me that I could picture him playing Lex Luthor. He plays a 'genius' in the show, so I don't think it'd be that much of a stretch to see him play an 'evil genius'. There's been at least a few scenes throughout the show where I think he's displayed a 'darker' side to the character he plays (in a recent episode I watched he truly seemed like he was capable of playing 'the greatest criminal mind of our time'). The last time I saw him playing a villain was in the TV series Dexter, and I thought he was quite good in that. Obviously, others will probably disagree with this^ choice, but it's just one I thought of and could actually picture.

On Moviebob's last video on BvS, he was talking about how to make the movie better. He mentioned that they could cut Batman and Eisenberg out of the movie and just have Affleck as Luthor and make the movie Man of Steel 2. I think that would actually work with how Bruce was hating Superman throughout. Just bald him up and put Mercy next to him.

Why do most people only choose bald dudes when they are pretend casting Luthor? People can shave their heads. I reckon Daniel Craig would crush it.

Cause some are actually good fits who happen to be bald. Zane and Strong could of pulled off Lex. There are good character actors who could play lex that are not bald.

They should shave Eisenberg's head and give him some Ritalin. He will be fine as Lex as the post credit scene indicates. W Harrison or Bryan Cranston would be ok but are overused, we need a fresh performance.

All he can do is play variations of himself i.e. douche-baggy nerds.

I didn't mind when they announced Ben Affleck as Batman. I never heard of Gal Gadot before she was announced as Wonder Woman so I didn't know what to make of her at the time but I have never been a fan of the casting for Lex Luthor. Some people like him so he must be doing something right for them but I think they should have gone with an actor who was a few years older than Henry Cavail so they could have played out the former best friends angle 'cause I think having Lex and Clark as former best friends made it a lot more personal between them and Clark got to see Lex's descent into darkness and blamed himself for it. To me, Michael Rosenbaum and John Shea's versions of Lex Luthor will always be the best.

I'd've taken someone who at least looked like a mature adult, and not DC's Zuckerberg.

He was pretty much Jim Carreys Ridder in a nutshell. Honestly I could see Esienberg playing the comic book riddler
