Beyond the WallSynopsis: Jon and his team go beyond the wall to capture a wight. Daenerys has to make a tough decision. Director: Alan Taylor (also did Baelor, Fire and Blood & Valar Morghulis) IMDb rating: 9.5 IMDb v2.0: 7.9 RT rating: 82% So only two episodes left and these two seem to be the big ones. Will episode 6 live up to the hype?

Looks to heavily feature the expedition beyond the wall. I'm eager for it.

I won't watch the episode until monday morning after it has aired, but here are a few reactions on Twitter from people that have seen it. They are very positive:
"Ok, that leaked Game of Thrones episode was like 10 steps above every other episode this season. Holy shit. My jaw is still on the ground."
"Game of Thrones had me in tears. There was too much going on!"
"I believe I just watched the best Game of Thrones episode ever in all 7 seasons combined PERIOD."
"Episode 6 of Game of Thrones is definitely the best episode to date IMO. If you can wait it out, wait it out!!! I couldn't..."
"Game of Thrones episode 6 is f**king amazing!"

The other day on another board I pointed out Jon's line to Dany, "I wish you good fortune in the wars to come," was a throwback to Arthur Dayne's exchange with Ned at the Tower of Joy. Then someone pointed out Mance said the same thing to Stannis. I thought it was a fun wink to the audience, but I had a disturbing thought last night, rewatching episode 5. Both of those characters died after that statement.

So the episode finally (officially) airs tonight. I haven't seen it yet, so I'm really excited. What do you expect or what did you think (no spoilers) about the episode if you've already seen it?

9.2/10 rounded down to a 9. Epic at parts and nail biting throughout. The clash of ice and fire did not disappoint. However, I have a handful of problems and not gonna lie, even though I've been a strong defender of the fast paced traveling, it was pretty bad in this episode. All in all, the good outweighs the bad and the results was pretty awesome. As cool as it was, this feels more like a set up to The Long Night and what's to come than a penultimate episode.
The trailer for the season finale looks amazing.

That shit was gangsta yo. Did Dany and Jon each rub one out after that bonding scene or was Jon too tired? I'm sure Dany did thinking about Jon bending the knee and making the best use of his time while he was down there. Know what I'm saying?

Ugh, rewatching the episode there's so many minor flaws. If the writing was brushed up a bit this episode would've been a masterpiece.

www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/game_of_thrones/s07/e06These scores are harsh. Very harsh. Fucks up that killer streak which this season had for 5 fucking episodes of being very well reviewed. It's heartbreaking to see a GOT penultimate episode have a rotten score on RT...

So you loved it until you read a review from some video game nerds? That's kind of odd.

So you loved it until you read a review from some video game nerds? That's kind of odd. I still do love it. IGN hasn't changed my opinion whatsoever. It's just disappointing to see them go from all the great reviews they've been giving (10s, 9.5s) down to a 6.9, the lowest in GoT history. I don't recall saying anything about loving it less or changing my opinion on the episode, just that it's too bad that the episode is not getting the best reviews in the world. Please correct me if I'm wrong?

It was alright. I had read the spoilers beforehand and this was still fun to see.
That being said, why didn't Benjen just go south with Jon. I know that 'magic' prevents him from going back over the wall, but at least he could live again to kill more wights. Here's how the conversation should have gone:
Benjen kills some wights with his fire thinggamabob and rides up to Jon. He jumps off his horse.
Benjen: Here Jon, take my horse and go south to the wall, quickly!
Jon: Come with me Uncle Benjen!
Benjen: No, not enough time...
Jon: What are you talking about Uncle Benjen? It would take you like 2 seconds to jump onto the back of the horse.
Benjen:...
Jon:...
Wights:...
Benjen: Good point.
Benjen jumps on the horse, rides south with Jon, and lives another day.

Benjen's unnecessary death appears to have been gratuitous drama, well in line with the habit of killing off unnecessary characters for body count effect rather than giving them a normal exit. It was done with Barristan, Hizdahr, Osha, the Blackfish and probably others.

It was done with Barristan, Hizdahr, Osha, the Blackfish and probably others. Yea, they've been pulling shit like this for a while, but Benjen's unnecessary death was particularly stupid. He didn't even need to jump off the horse at all... It was just silly.
