I didn't care to see this re-release but I'm disappointed because we'll probably not get a 'Aliens' re-release anytime soon, which was possibly going to happen if this was successful.

Well I wasn't expecting this to be extremely successful. I don't think many people would want to pay money to go out to see this when you can watch it at home on an HDTV with surround sound.

They may have killed the Terminator franchise with all the horrible sequels

They may have killed the Terminator franchise with all the horrible sequels The hurricane in Texas, and the Mayweather vs McGregor fight probably didn't help.

Expect Close encounters of the 3rd kind to suffer a similar fate this weekend

That's really disappoiting for T2. I blame the stupid superhero movies for this.

I like T2 (love T1) yet I've watched it too many times to crave it for $12 or whatever 3D. I also prefer the SE with Kyle Reese.

CE3K finished with 1.7 million on 901 screens, not bad for a movie that's 40 years old and no one was really clamoring for a re-release. I saw it Sunday night and while it was fun seeing it on the big screen again, in all honesty I didn't sit there saying to myself, "Wow, what a difference in 4K."

I keep looking for these re-releases and they never seem to be on around here. I'd love to go to the Close Encounters re-release, or the T2 one, or any number of others, but I just can't find them.
