In Sydney Australia, it began being shown in circa December 1956, with TV in the city only being a few months old at the time. It aired at 8:30PM on Tuesdays on ATN-7, preceded by local news discussion show "This I Believe" and followed by "A Man Called X". It aired against "Four Star Theatre" (aka Four Star Playhouse) on TCN-9 and varied programming on ABN-2 (ABN-2's schedule was not very strict at the time).
In Melbourne Australia, it did not begin being shown until January 1957, aired at 8:30PM on Tuesdays GTV-9, preceded by "Famous Playhouse" (U.S. anthology episodes) and followed by "A Man Called X". It aired against "Four Star Playhouse" on HSV-7 and varying programming on ABV-2 (ABV-2's schedule was not-very-strict at the time).
By February, GTV-9's and ATN-7's schedule had changed so that in both cities it was preceded by the Sydney-produced slapstick comedy game show "It Pays to be Funny".
I do not know if and when it was shown in Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane, all of which got TV in 1959. I do know it was never shown in Canberra (probably because the state didn't get TV until 1962, by which point the series was already old).

I visited Australia in the spring/summer (for me) fall/winter (for you) of 1986. Canberra (your capital) IS the most well-planned (well-sculpted) city that I've EVER seen in my entire life. No other city quite like it.
