Glad to see you here. i have no idea WTF happened. Was there drama right before the shut down? It's not like the admin would actually have to do anything even if he were bored to keep things open would he? I wonder what cause him to do it? i much prefer his board to this one. I was online right as it happened, but I wasn't really scanning the board and didn't see anything resembling drama. I will have to get used to this one now, I guess. I've read the reddit Freefolk board, but I utterly despise that format and never know if I'm reading all the posts thus I never even attempted to post. The freefolk board is garbage.

I never knew it had been made a 'semi-private affair.' I must have missed that memo. I never moved here because it was too much of a pain in the ass to figure out where the GoT board was amidst all the other options. That's what I found. It wasn't very active before either. It's picked up now, I see. MovieChat ( moviechat.org/tt0944947/Game-of-Thrones) is another one that opened after imdb closed its forums that's doing pretty well. What I like about that site is that they've archived the imdb forums. Maybe not as sophisticated as other forums, I don't think you can embed pictures or videos.

So people are not capable of making a bookmark of this: imdb2.freeforums.net/board/153/game-thrones Really?

I mean for finding a thread for any show. I was here from the beginning. The search function wasn't working back then so you had to go through everything trying to locate a show you were interested in. I don't think the GoT board was even up at that time. You have to be able to find the show before you can bookmark it.

People in transition had it under their nose all the time as I was updating and bumping it at least once a day. The GOT Board never had a search function but I think both were created at the same time.

Huh, I never knew that. I got the impression the board creator lost interest in it, but I didn't realize new memberships were locked down. Now I wonder why they just didn't merge these two boards like they were talking about in February. You didn't pay attention, did you? I wasn't aware there was going to be a test! Thanks for filling me in, but you're right I don't pay much attention to board drama on messageboards, especially those dedicated to talking about TV shows. That sort of thing got old for me circa 1997.

The problem with the Reddit is that there isn't much discussion going on. It's just popular opinions, memes and funny comments at the top. While everything else is downvoted. Might as well be discussing things in Youtube comments. its has its purpose but it's no forum.

It's a result of the voting system which makes popularity a measure of what floats at the top of discussions. An unmoderated discussion forum about a popular subject ends up in a rubbish pile. A moderated one will show the group think below.

Posts were only visible to logged in members, so there was barely any inflow and requests for membership were kept on hold for a long time. The forum was opened shortly before S7 started, new members admitted, then closed again. It remained a very confidential thing. There was no memo. You had to find out by reading here from people asking how to get in or by logging out and seeing you had to log in again to see anything. I kept trying to explain to the admins that making it private was a bad idea. You have to leave it open, so that way people will read a post, feel compelled to respond, create an account, and post on the board. They didn't agree though and insisted they were still getting new users despite it all...

After they made the decision to help this place (IMDB 2.0) instead and asked users to move to it, the purpose of the GOT Board was not to grow. It was kept as a fall-back and to accommodate those who just wouldn't leave. At least that's the way I suppose it was.

Are you Lukey? Any idea about Rhaegal or Jonsa? Wasn't Rhaegal one of the most dedicated posters on that board?

Wasn't Rhaegal one of the most dedicated posters on that board? It didn't matter to the admins...they repaid his loyalty by giving him The Iron Price!!! ^ Sorry, I'm still in GOT mode.

I'm on my third time around watching season 7. The wait for S8 is already painful. I just remember Rhaegal as one of the guys on the IMDB MB and thegotboard that actually wanted to talk about GoT.

If Wiseau is reading this please just message me dude. I'm not going to out you(assuming you're here under a different name at all or you see this in the future). I have no ill feelings towards you at all man. Just wanted to talk as you were one of the coolest GOT IMDb members hands down.
I just don't want you to get the impression that I made this thread to try and crucify or shame you Wiseau. Yes I wish we had a warning, but this thread is mainly to see who made it over.
Peace brother. Absolutely no hard feelings on my end even if you don't want to talk.
