The latest rumour is that the story for Bond 25 will be:
"Bond quits the secret service, and he's in love and gets married. His wife then gets killed."
At first I rolled my eyes a little at this but I think I’ve figured out a way to make it work, I’ll be interested to see what people think.
Pre-Title Sequence:
We see an agent on assignment being stalked and killed by a hitman working for the film’s main villain.
Story:
As the film starts we see Bond settled in his new life; he’s married to Madeline and has traded his license to kill for a high paid consultancy position with a private security firm. And he’s gown board of it all. However, Bond’s new life if shaken up when is approached by Felix Leiter. Leiter tells Bond about an assignment he’s working on; the CIA believes Nevada State Senator Jack Spang is involved in some kind of clandestine dealings and are trying to gather evidence on him. Spang is incredibly well connected and Felix believes they need someone unaffiliated with government agencies and so asks for James for his assistance. Bond eagerly accepts and the two travel to Las Vegas where Spang resides. Bond proceeds to humiliate Spang at the card table before collecting the evidence needed for his arrest.
However Bond’s action earn him the wrath of Spang’s twin brother Serrafimo, the man in charge of the families legitimate business enterprises and criminal empire. He orders a hit on Bond but while Bond survives the assault Madeleine is killed. Subsequently Bond sets out to hunt down and kill the responsible Spang Brother.
Along the way he encounters a mysterious woman who is also interested in Spang. She lures Bond into a meeting bringing Bond face to face with her boss. Here we learn that her boss in none other than M she is agent 004. After chastising Bond’s actions M reveals that Mi6 has also been investigating Spang’s activities and that the agent killed in the PTS was the new 007. Believing that it’s better to have Bond on your side than against you M agrees to reinstate Bond for the purposes of this mission. The conditions of his return being that he work with 004 and that they complete the assignment to prevent Spang’s scheme. And so, Bond and 004 head to North Africa on the trail of Serrafimo Spang.
Bond completes his mission, both professional and personal. The hitman who killed Madeline is now dead as is the man who gave the order and his masterplan thwarted. Bond returns to London where he discusses his future, as well as a personal revelation with M. He loved Madeline but now she’s gone and the death of Serrafimo Spang has brought him the closure he needed. But as much as he cared for her he wasn’t happy with her, retirement did not suit him. As much as he tried to fight it this is his life, he lives for the danger. He is, and always will be; 007.
