My laptop used to start up quickly. After a windows update yesterday it is taking much longer to get to the start screen. Once I'm there no issues at all. I bought it about 6 weeks ago. Any suggestions on how to get the speed back would be appreciated. Thanks!

klsThere may be some major change has been done with that update. Same slowdown happening here. When slowdowns have happened before , it has been suggested to "clear your cache".... Favorites / settings/ clear browsing data Good luck !

You might also try CONTROL-ALT-DELETE, selecting the Task Manager, and then the Startup tab. Things you don't use (such as Drop Box) can be safely disabled.
You might also want to open up Cortana, click on the Settings button (lower left), and turn off everything Cortana wants to help you with.

kls If this "helpful stuff" doesn't help, asking in "Tech Support" gets fast and accurate info about techy type questions. 'course the things I ask tend to be "sorry but we cannot reproduce the problem" type questions.

Safer, free of charge and doesn't slow itself down by creating hundreds of unnecessary files.

The laptop doesn't have enough memory to run Windows 10 properly. As a result it now does everything slowly. Unfortunately, the easy 'go back to 7' grace period had expired and now we're stuck with it.

insert code here Could be quite a few things. Try virus check (Avira), defragmentation (Defraggler), malware (AdWare Cleaner, Rkill, and RogueKiller), hardware issue (drive full or about to go out), or just the update itself. Most of this freeware can be found here: filehippo.com/
