Bran can see the future. Jojen told him so in S3 and he saw the wildfire explosion beneath the Sept before it happened, or at least this is what was implied in S6E06 unless we start theorising that the King's Landing story line was occurring faster than the rest of the season and both event and vision were simultaneous.
It seems the Night King has that power too. It is the only way of explaining how he had his army around the cave of the Three-Eyed Raven at the right moment for Bran to run into him or how he knew he had to march down to Eastwatch with a set of dragon hauling chains and a hand made new saddle (did you see it in the Making Of?).
It changes the story in that Bran and the Night King are no longer characters but a writing device made to implement an ineluctable set of events framing it. The Night King becomes a "Diabolus ex machina" intervening only to poke at the plot and steer it along its wanted course. Bran appears incapable of really changing anything, treading along whatever has to be. This established, we are not far from considering the cyclic possibility of the story in which the announced struggle is but the return to the Long Night of legend and a reboot of History.
The final statement would be that nothing ever changes and life itself is conflict. It is chance and risk at the same time. Whatever can happen will happen, as Murphy's Law enounces, and that includes going through disaster ("Winter is coming"), no matter what unleashes it.
Of course History tells us otherwise and if we can see long term cycles in it, a general improvement cannot be denied. The author is a fool.
