If you look Lara and Haynes' strike rates, I doubt it was an easy wicket to bat on.

I certainly think he's under rated in ODI cricket. He made 17 centuries in an era where I can remember going through whole summers without seeing anyone getting 1. His strike rate is the misleaading stat. 63.1 indicates a Chris Tavare-esque liability who you wanted to keep in as long as possible, but that was what good ODI openers did in the 80s and 90s: they dropped anchor and batted deep so that the Viv Richards, Clive Lloyds, Brian Laras and his opening partner Greenidge could smash the bowling to all corners knowing that if they all failed Desi would still be there to guide them to something respectable.
And the formula worked so well that the Windies only lost one home ODI series (to Oz in 1991) in his entire career and off the top of my head, didn't lose many more away...

No they couldn't! - Pleased for Lakmal, always bowls his heart out, even on unresponsive home pitches.

Saffers V England - 4th Test Day 1 - England win toss and bat first - Crawley makes maiden test 50 - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/cricket/49811098Anyone see De Plesis' coin toss? what a farce, he openly said he wanted to lose the toss since nobody is sure about the pitch, he threw the coin to the floor instead of tossing it! Both sides have chosen to leave their front line spinners out! Bit unfair on Dom Bess for England, but I do understand it with a concern about Wood if he breaks down, then England will still have 4 seamers and the twin spin option of Root and Denley. Woakes in as Archer failed fitness test. Zealand V India - T20 International - India win by 6 wickets - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/scorecard/ECKO46203Pak V Bangers - T20 International - Pak win by 5 wickets - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/scorecard/ECKO47826

100 opening partnership for England Tea! (lost first session to rain) - perfect session, great leaving, proper old school openers performance. Rory Burns is in the Sky Sports studio, watching with interest and obviously thinking "man I wish I hadn't trod on that football"...

Living in Canterbury, Kent, I am obviously very pleased for Zac Crawley. In the few innings that he has had for England, he has bettered his score every time. Thought h might get his hundred today but maybe he's saving that for the second innings. Joe Denly needs a score. He keeps getting "in" and then surrenders when he's score 30/40. He needs to be aware that Ollie Pope is itching for his spot

He needs to be aware that Ollie Pope is itching for his spot Sibley and Crawley both got out to balls they had comfortably been leaving before the tea break. Denly is the man under pressure when Burns is fit, he keeps getting between 25/50, out again in the 20s, Crawley is clearly going to be in at 3 if he can't cement in the second innings here and in Lanka - age is against him as well.

Saffers snare Root or Stokes in this last session they are well in the game when they looked dead and buried before tea.

It’s funny how many sides have issues at #3. I still think Stokes is the best option for England at 3 if Root wants to bat at 4. TBH - Rory Burns at 5 and Pope at 6 works too IMHO.
Very stiff for Dom Bess. This is the sort of shit that cruels careers. I rate Wood, Woakes and Curran - but with Broad too it looks like too much of the same thing.

I have no idea why racism against red haired is tolerated by so many people. I have often seen even the otherwise anti-racist people indulge in making fun of red haired people. It seems to me many people are not actually against racism but just like the feeling it comes from being identified as a person who opposes racism. As to their (both Stokes' and his abusers) use of the word C**t, I think that's terrible. I have never even used the word Bit** and don't like such derogatory references.

No.11 Broad gets some good runs for England. I think 400 should ideally be enough to secure them this series.
Ind vs NZ 5 match T-20 series could be interesting.

The way Saffers are batting, that 400 might as well be 950. 88-6 at stumps with Wood the main wicket taker with 3. End of section.
