How about Forrest Gump when he meets his son. That movie has nosedived out of my re-watches, yet that scene is one of the finest of the 90's. B+ for the film btw, I probably watched it too much.

...while most of this film is excellent black comedy, it is hard to duplicate the final scene in Dr Strangelove... I agree with that, but that movie does have other scenes in it that are good/hilarious.

i'm convinced the opening to Zombieland is what tricked everyone into thinking it was good. Great call on this one.

The obvious one that first springs to mind, I dare say, for most people, is BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S. The cat really saves the day.
I've thought of this many times. Many movies really rely on one scene:
1. BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S-Save the kitty 2. PLAY DIRTY-Oops at the end 3. COMMANDOS-Ends with two no name survivors 4. FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE-We find out at the end why the bounty hunters counted in such a weird way 5. GOLDMEMBER-The "physical" is a highlight in a movie of what I thought was mostly "forced" jokes
I'll think of more.
Of the ones mentioned, I haven't seen many of them. Not sure there even was a good scene in Galaxy of Terror. The scene mentioned was overrated as far as us guys are concerned. More of a scene that women want guys to like. There were maybe three scenes from the Deer Hunter, all involving Russian roulette.
The most baffling picks were Gump and Troy, but of which are classic films, sure to be around for the ages, both full of numerous great scenes. Gump will always have comic value for those missing the nostalgia, and Troy is undeniably the best concocted and most credible of the Iliad movies. Its logic, inspiration, and strategy beat all the others down to a pulp.

The Deer Hunter? OK, maybe that's unfair, but if ever it's on I only want to watch it for the Russian roulette scene. The opening from Spectre was the best thing about that film, IMO. I agree that was an incredible scene in Spectre....but the movie had other good scenes.
