Villeneuve would be a great choice and I'm sure he could do some interesting things with the next Bond film. However he's stated that he next film is going to be the long gestating adaption of Dune and commitments to that may prevent him from signing on.

I would love to see him do a Bond film, especially with those 'Blade Runner 2049' reactions being as good as they are.

I would not complain given he directed Sicario (7/10 ; my favorite movie from him) which is his best movie and is more mood/atmosphere oriented like his movies in general are. i rank his movies like this that i have seen so far... 1.Sicario - 7/10 (amongst My Favorite Movies in general which currently contains 196 movies) 2.Enemy - 6-6.5/10 (a bit shy of being considered a favorite movie. it's within my Top 247 movies) 3.Arrival - 6/10 4.Prisoners - 5/10 (Thumbs Down) one thing i can count on, which i think is what largely makes or breaks Bond movies, is a solid feel/tone/mood to it which the quality directors tend to bring to the James Bond world vs those that don't, which end up giving you mostly just-another-movie sorta thing. so basically... with his general style combined with the world of Bond it seems like a safe bet for quality in my mind and should just about guarantee Quantum of Solace remains the weak link of the Craig Bond era and is basically the only movie of the Craig Bond era that does not have a quality director. If that happens, they better not screw it up. if done right, it could work though. but this is more of a gamble.
