3/10. It certainly tries it's best to be more than it is. But nobody watches a movie about a giant green muscle man to listen to philosophical dialogue or to constantly feel depressed. Movies like this are supposed to be escapism, and the 2003 Hulk movie fails in that regard.

I give it 6/10. I actually prefer it over the Edward Norton reboot, which I thought was utter crap.

I gave it a 10. It is much better than the Norton hulk. I do think this movie has problems, but it's one of those movies that I forgive the flaws. I thought Eric Bana was a great hulk and Banner and would have rather seen him in the Avengers than Ruffalo (who I absolutely can't stand as a person or hulk) I thought he captured Hulk and Banner really well.
The biggest problem I have with this movie isn't the mutant dogs surprisingly. It's the fact that it's a character study. There's very few scenes with the Hulk in it,but when he's in it he looks just like the comic's hulk and the scenes are very entertaining.
If anything I'm shocked this is still looked at horribly today. I would have thought by now this would have been a cult classic.

I actually dug this one. In fact , I liked it more than a lot of those MCU films. The fight in the desert (where the Hulk tosses around a tank was awesome). It had its moments . 7/10

I don't think being a character study is the problem (Spider-Man 2 and Batman Begins are basically character studies as well) - more that it's a character study of a guy who, as written and played by Bana, is just kind of dull. I thought it was boring as a kid, and I tried to rewatch it a few years ago now that I was older and could appreciate what it was trying to do more, and honestly still found it pretty boring. And I can't decide if I like Ang Lee's style or not. It's creative, but also pretty distracting (Josh Lucas' death makes me laugh every time).
But the action scenes are fun (including the mutant poodles), and I liked it more than the Norton version, which was just meh all around.
Edit: Derp. All that and didn't give a rating. 6/10

A 4 or a 5 perhaps. It's just plain fucking boring and there's nothing worse than a boring superhero movie.

5/10 although there really hasn't been a decent Hulk film. This one was marginally better than the Edward Norton debacle. Eric Bana is a good actor.

2/10 One of the only superhero films I was ever bored watching. Hell even Catwoman was amusing.

7 mainly because of Nick Nolte and Sam Elliot. Sam Elliot is the perfect actor for Thunderbolt Ross,William Hurt I still think of Kiss of a spiderwoman

I thought its heart was in the right place, but it stumbled a bit. I don't do numbers usually, but this is somewhere between 6 and 7 for me.
The Hulk could be so cool (not a reader of comics btw) if it were given the right treatment. I tend to think its such a good premise that it maybe hasn't been fleshed out all the way yet. Lee's take was genuine, but it was too slow ('Hulk smash'...aside from the desert scene, where was that?). The one with Norton was like rolling your ankle trying to pick up dog shit in a pond (I think the whole thing was fvcked from the conception).
The irony is that everything someone who doesn't really know the comics (like me) might gravitate toward, is that the same thing seemed to work in "Batman Begins." A conflicted character, who could be equally as appealing as Batman. Not so much a focus on the superpowers (especially with the Hulk) and more focused on the cerebral intentions of the character. Does Hulk want to ultimately do good? Does he just want to smash? Could it be an allegory for something like addiction/obsession/martyrdom/etc? There's so much potential. Mark Ruffalo has some range and does pretty well in the purple boxers. I'd be down to see him get a shot.
I'm getting a little weary of the MCU, but I think there's still a chance for a solo Hulk movie.

5/10. Setting aside the tampering with Hulk's mythology, it takes forever for Bruce to Hulk out, first battle is with a giant mutated poodle and last battle is with an amorphous cloud. Hulk looks like a big blob of Play-Doh.

I gave it a 4. Don't get foreigner directors who have ZERO understanding of western narrative film norms to make films for western audiences. It is as retarded as getting a Texas filmmaker to do films on Taiwanese legends.
The Hulk poodle is the type of thing you would expect from someone totally unfamiliar with monster movies.
