As noted in my 2017 albums thread, Fireforce does a metal version of The Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter" on their new album.

Is there a way this could have been bad but wasn't? I got nothing.

Is there a way this could have been bad but wasn't? I got nothing. I'm not sure I understand what you mean. This is a CD only bonus track, and I bought the CD it comes from. I like the song. Your mileage may vary.

This is the sort of cover I like, by the way. I want the covering artist to do something different with the tune, and doing it in a different genre like this is one way to do that.
This cover also caused me to finally look up the lyrics--it's only been close to 50 years and I've never bothered. For one, I always thought Mick was singing "It's just a shadow way" . . . why he'd be singing that, I don't know, but I don't expect lyrics to make obvious sense, lol

In other words, he means "Is there a way this could have turned out good?" Well I think it did turn out good. So did the reviewer at Lords of Metal who wrote:

In other words, he means "Is there a way this could have turned out good?" Well I think it did turn out good. So did the reviewer at Lords of Metal who wrote: I don't at all agree that it "completely blows away the original," but at least they did something different with it, and they did a decent job with it, even if it's kind of cliched (but I don't really expect them to do something not characteristic of the metal genre).

I agree that Lords of Metal was overstating the quality of this particular track. I think it's a nice change of pace and a worthy addition to the album.
