That's ProBoards, not individual forums.

... site, you asked a while back. So I did. With no complaints, until now. I don't consider someone babbling about MBNA to be non-intrusive. Or any other ad that plays sound of any kind, for that matter (I'm almost always playing music through my computer when using it, and I'm sure I'm not alone in this). Perhaps it's just me, but maybe you could reconsider this policy in favour of a slightly stricter interpretation of what is non-intrusive and what isn't? Thanks. Technically, I've never asked anyone to disable their ad blocker, but I have suggested it for practical reasons. (See this thread, for example.) That said... This website does not use audio ads, popups, or other annoyances."We do not sanction these types of ads. No matter what site/forum you visit on the internet this can happen if these ads make it into the rotation of the ad providers. We take violation of our ad criteria very seriously and do our best to eradicate them as soon as we are informed." - Scott, ProBoards Admin support.proboards.com/thread/579224/advertisements-over-audioPlease use the ad report tool to report any ads that use audio, are annoying and/or intrusive, or that you feel are inappropriate by clicking the "Report Ad" link at the bottom of every page of this forum. Thanks.

I was gonna say, I have never experienced any noisy or video type adverts. You want to feel like a schizophrenic, you should have seen YouTube a couple of years ago. Three areas for video and sound ads, all different!

ADMIN:
I have received a message to remove my pop-up ad blocker. Well, I was having problems with my new iMAC and APPLE Tech support recommended that I add the pop-up blocker.

One thing I hate about Google chrome (and Hulu together) is the ad blocker and how Hulu stalls with it.

I hear ya, maya. I get it.
although, with add blocker on you can disable it for certain sites. within the settings area [the three dots at the upper right hand corner just below the x] you can click your adblocker to off and it will stay off on this site. others will be okay.

cheers! the good thing about some sites is that when the adblocker hinders the site from working, they MIGHT tell you what to do to get things working. I learned this trick through Hulu.
a similar things happens to me in regards to Adobe Flash Player. I have to personally allow AFP to be used within the site but I can make it 'allow once' or 'always allow'.

ADMINISTRATION:
I am going to follow Apple Support, as I paid close to $3000.00 for my iMAC, this board did not. You're certainly free to use an ad blocker here, but according to what I linked you to above, you will get an occasional message asking you to disable it. This is not a pop-up ad; it's merely a friendly request from ProBoards. Furthermore, blocking the ads here prevents the pagination links from taking you to the top of the linked page since apparently they are anchored to the banner ad at the top of the screen. As for me, I have never seen a single pop-up ad on this forum. When they say ProBoards forums do not use audio ads, pop-ups, or other annoyances, they mean it. And when one slips through the cracks, they eliminate it: "We do not sanction these types of ads. Thanks. Personally, I would rather see an ad than the placeholder text.

admin, I took care of it. I told her about the disable adblock for each site she goes on [if she wants] and she was very grateful.
we're good.

admin, I took care of it. I told her about the disable adblock for each site she goes on [if she wants] and she was very grateful. we're good. What I understood was that she was going to take Apple's "advice" and use a pop-blocker since she seems to think the request to disable ad blockers is a pop-up ad. I'm not sure how telling her to disable it solved her problem, but if it did, then yeah...we good.

Administration
I simply followed what Apple's Tech Support advised me, as I was having an issue enabling my MAC to "speak" Japanese plus other problems. I do not have knowledge of a computer's workings .
I had back tracked and discovered that YES, I can remove ad blockers from this site only. The removal is different with an iMAC. They have too many bells and whistles.
However, thank you!

I don't get why this admin is getting so defensive over this. it's not you we're upset with and we know you didn't make the site.

moving, video ads and ads that speak are intrusive! ad block is going to go right back on!
