So there have been tons of hints that a Lantern will at the very least make a cameo in this film...
But how do you think they will do it?
My theory is that since Steppenwolf says in that one narration that "There's no Lantern..." that this is before Hal gets the ring. So the theory that I heard that I like the most, is that it will be Abin Sur who shows up...he will be mortally wounded in the battle and then in a post-credits or online bonus scene, it will show his ring reaching out to Hal Jordan.
I suppose it could go to Jon Stewart, but I think they will keep the first human Lantern as Hal...but Jon will be brought in really quickly and will be a major part of the Corp film.

I think that a Green Lantern will appear in the opening battle between Amazons and Apokolips but will be killed. The upcoming movie is supposed to feature both Hal Jordan and John Stewart so odds are, Jordan will show up first if at all.

If that were the case, I would think the Corps would have someone patrolling Earth just in case he ever came back and to watch over the Mother Box.
Since he says "There's no Lantern" I think it means they don't think Earth is worthy of patrolling yet. But then they detect Steppenwolf and send someone to investigate.
Sort of like the Vulcans in First Contact.
(Yes I say Earth, but I know it is Sector 3942842834384 or something)

I think you're over thinking it. If anything the most we'll get is a quick cameo appearance towards the end. Or maybe in a post credits scene. The movie will probably be spending most of its time teasing Supermans return, so it wont care trying to give Green Lantern screen time. I hope I'm wrong because I'd love to see a Green Lantern in there. It feels incomplete without him. And without Superman.
As a matter of fact it feels incomplete without Martian Manhunter, but that's another story.

I could be wrong, but I don't remember Steppenwolf saying that there are no Lanterns "anymore"...just that there is no Lantern. It doesn't make sense to me for the Lantern Corps to be monitoring Earth enough to have one battle, and die at the hands of, a massive inter-dimensional being and then never checking back.

Oh yeah I keep forgetting that they've left Green Lantern out of this too.
I bet he'd have been included from the start of the 2011 movie hasn't bombed.

To be honest, it would be extremely stupid to have GL pop up at the final battle in the film. People would think it’ll somewhat be a waste if a GL is in the history lesson and that’s it. This is why I have been saying for a while, at the end or post credit scene or even in the extended edition, Sur should be held captive in Apokolips. No Hal cast at all. That way, we easily get a Hal Jordan becoming GL origin in JL 2.

I'd rather they just join the League.

I am not sure if he will appear or not. One of the writers of the movie said last year Green Lantern wouldn't appear until 'Justice League 2' but that was before they changed the dates for the movies around. I think they should have made a solo 'Green Lantern' movie before 'Justice League' and rushing this far ahead especially before 'The Batman' which should be their main focus is going to cost them. After the last 'Green Lantern' movie they should be trying to redeem the name before randomly adding the Green Lantern characters to an assemble movie.
