Is it as bad as the score indicate? Wow apparently marvel can lay a egg.

I think it was a bad idea from the start.

I think it was a bad idea from the start. I get the idea behind the idea to use them. They don't have the XMEN (yet hehe) so they figured they'd try the next best thing.

I think it was a bad idea from the start. I get the idea behind the idea to use them. They don't have the XMEN (yet hehe) so they figured they'd try the next best thing. Exactly. BUT they should have made a movie! Not a TV show.
This would have made for an amazing movie where they could have given it the big budget it truly needs. TV shows are better for somewhat smaller characters and stories. Look at how well the Netflix shows turned out.
This on the other hand is about an entire race of people, from a hidden futuristic city, each with their own super powers and peculiar physical appearance, who have ties to alien civilizations! How did they think they were truly going to do that justice on a tv show budget? And not even an HBO level tv show budget, but rather a mainstream network?
This could have been grand. Instead its just meh at best.

Is it too late to retcon this whole thing and still make a movie?

Is it too late to retcon this whole thing and still make a movie? About as much as retconning the Dark Tower movie with a tv series I think. But miracles do occur.

I watched the first episode on Friday, it's not as bad as critics say, but it isn't perfect

I loved it despite the occasionally creaky dialogue and the seemingly endless wandering around Oahu. It has a charm and wit missing from some of Marvel's other more earnest outings and Lockjaw is very impressive. I await a crossover with Hawaii Five-O. Probably the easiest job Anson Mount has ever had.
