Watching the Thor films I found myself puzzled by what Asgard is? It can't be a planet since it has a side that drops off into space, yet it has mountains & oceans - and possibly other areas. Best guess is that it's an artificial construction, something like an outer space Columbia (Bioshock Infinite)

...It's erm, well I would say it's, eh....Asguard is well Asguard lets just leave it at that shall we?
It's a planet but one in the Marvel universe which means normal rules do not apply, I mean this universe has living planets giant decapitated skulls floating in space being mined for centuries, reality warping stones, teleporting asteroids + talking tree's & racoons, all this shit is impossible but it still exist in this universe...Asguard is relatively tame compared to the other crazy stuff.

Even now, on this very message board. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work... when you go to church... when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. Hee hee hee...

The 9 "Realms" are really 9 Galaxies interconnected via a wormhole system Asgard controls. Asgard itself is on a planet that's been altered by the Asgardians' advanced science.

A place where myth and science meet. Oh wait that's Skull Island. Never mind.

It's a place where the end of everything and the death of everyone means it's time to double down on all the jokes and (fingers crossed) even more bodily function humor.

Also if you misread the question slightly it's a useful piece of clothing to be worn to prevent unwanted sodomy, highly popular in all male boarding schools and prisons...or what you call it when a women's friend prevents drunk idiots from grabbing or slapping them on the rump.

So it's like earth, heaven, hell, etc. Where is heaven? Where is hell?
Asgard is where the Aesir dwell. Humans dwell in Midgard. Valhalla is where honored dead warriors go. Hel is where most of the dead go. How is that hard to conceive of?

Seriously though, its another dimension, an alternate reality if you will, that doesn't really go by the rules of physics you hope to understand it by. The whole things supposed to be on a massive tree, so go figure!

It's in another Galaxy, the 9 Realms are really 9 different Galaxies connected by a wormhole system that looks like a Tree when viewed.

The 9 realms are different galaxies...? I figured they were different planets in the milky way, since Earth is referred to as mid-guard are other planets in the milky way also other mid-guards?
