Spiderman 2 deals with a Peter Parker who is in his late teens/early 20s. Hes got job, love, parental, college, career and dual identity problems. Thats by definition more mature than Tom Holland's whose only worry is getting a call back from Happy Hogan and getting a homecoming date. No comparison. One is very light hearted in nature, the other is more serious. While I agree Spider Man 2 is better I think it might also have to do with the fact that Peter is in college in that movie whereas in Homecoming he's in highschool. So age wise Spidey 2 has the advantage so that's a bit of an unfair comparison. I think the theme of Homecoming was more about growing up, seeing the hero within yourself and responsibility was a little more implied rather than blatant. Granted Spider Man 2 had more mature themes because he was older in that movie. The first Raimi Spider Man movie would be a better comparison. its more than that, peter was already in college by the second arc of the first movie. raimi wanted to make his spidey a real coming of age character so he made time move quite fast. In Spiserman tas, the best spider cartoon ever, peter in the first episode was in college too. people need to accept reality of what homecoming was, it was disney kids channel nonsense. marvel had no plans to make him mature or explore mature themes, all they cared about is marketing him to children.

TAS was good for its time, but it stumbled more often than not. The Spectacular show from 10 years ago was better, and so is the current one on Disney XD. We do accept what Homecoming was, it was Spidey finally being done right in all regards as opposed to the 50/50 way we got from Raimi and the ASM films. And you can see the future now?

I'm going with Spider-Man Homecoming - because it believes in its source material enough to skirt melodrama and some of the more cringe-worthy tropes of the genre.
I was never impressed with the Raimi movies which most swear by. Aesthetically they're fine but, thematically they reach a sort of uncanny valley in which the work is too close to being a perfect imitation of a comic book. The net effect is grotesque.
Hee hee hee...

According to who? You? You're just the most intelligent person with the best opinion aren't you? Well according to real Spider Man fans homecoming was good because it was different from the other Spider Man movies. There is simply no reality except others opinions and if you feel the need to arrogantly state that people should accept your opinion. Then you should just get off this board. Marvel will explore mature themes with him, you'll be eating your words in a few years.

They hate every other Marvel character out there that isn't an X-Character and barely tolerate Spidey. Now that Spidey's part of the MCU, which they hate for making the other Marvel characters they hate popular, they hate him too.
