I made a thread but deleted it as I thought when he resigned that was that. Next thing it's a major enquiry with the FA and parliament. So the allegations against him true?

Your thread's still out there somewhere but I could only find it using my recent post history. I made a couple of posts on it the other day. Basically they said Sampson did make discriminatory (racist) remarks but is not a racist (!)
Link to your old thread, hopefully

Link to your old thread, hopefully Thanks. As far as I'm concerned it was a witch hunt that destroyed a mans reputation and credibility because a black woman made accusations of racism. Someone had to go. All he did was allegedly make a couple of racial jokes. Bit of banter. Next thing you know it is a parliamentary inquisition. No racism. No bullying.

Wasn't it in the end about inappropriate behaviour at his previous club Bristol? If so you can drop the "stand up for racism nonsense" Why the high up's who selected him haven't been sacked or fallen on their swords is another matter entirely.

All i have heard is from team mates that stated he didnt know her well enough to use 'banter' and banter that would be fine if you knew the person and the person was the type to accept it, but in a female environment many women wouldn't accept it.. Basically calling him a dinosaur out of touch with the real world today at the worst.
If we knew what he said it may be a bit easier for us to actually work it out..

One of the things he said to Eni was 'hope you haven't brought ebola with you'

I find this whole story pretty disappointing and sad:-
The 'banter' was a remark re Aluko's parents bringing Eloba over from Nigeria when they came to watch her at Wembley was it not? I don't understand how it was even acceptable for that to be cast as a "racist" comment - in fact you could consider it racist to make that claim. If Sampson had been black and made the same joke (based on the somewhat inconvenience truth that there was an actual ebola outbreak in Nigeria!) there is no story.
Additionally, anyone who has ever been involved in football at any level, men or women's, knows that - like it or not - that kind of crass banter exists everywhere. Again, if Sampson had been a female coach making such a remark, would she have been hounded out like that?
It's pretty sad because I was a great fan of Eni Aluko - a great skillful role model for girls on the pitch and a very articulate when talking off it. However I just saw this as a horrible cynical calling of racism for personal gain, which was in itself both racist and sexist...

ok i did just read a source - that that was the case
you could argue that this could be the equivalent of a brit player playing in europe and the manager saying dont let your family bring mad cow disease over (at the time)
that would have been shrugged off - be it towards a black or white player..
at worst there is xenophobia at play here not racism. because it was due to the nation of origin being african not the colour of skin.
However I also agree that you shouldnt use banter with people you do not know and that african issues is a touchy subject. Us in the west that have it 'well' and take these things with a pinch of salt. In Africa its pain after pain, and any manager worth his pay check should get that . I am a managing director (my main job being operations and managing staff and high level clients)- every member of my staff or client needs to be treated differently to get the best out of them.

Sampson is a slimeball and an arse.
Can't believe some people on here are still trying to defend him.

There is only one on here that has Jack.
its a tasteless comment, i wouldnt brand him racist, but I can not understand how a grown man could say what he said. Its still horrid even if to me its not specifically racist.

That's a really good approximation of the case to highlight the logic (or lack thereof) at play... I also agree re your banter in the workplace comments but as I was saying before the football "workplace" is a pretty strange mixed environment intellectually, some smart characters yes, but also some real idiots (players and coaches). I find it impossible to believe Aluko, as a 28 year old seasoned international, hadn't come across characters like Sampson before, and furthermore (as her international manager for over a year at that point) I can't believe that was the first stupid she'd even heard from him...
