Despite no Bugle or Sider Sense, it still manages to be the best Spider-Man transfer to screen. I actually forgot the Bugle existed at all.

I'd rather see it in a sequel where Peter is old enough to freelance for them as a photographer. The "Spider-Menace" headlines is a trope of the 60s and 70s. I wouldn't mind seeing it minimized in the MCU. Homecoming didn't need the Daily Bugle. Nobody would be picking up a Newspaper to read about Spider-Man sightings c. 2017 you're much more likely to do that on YouTube or Social Media. |

Not too bothered by that. However I was bothered that Uncle Ben wasn't mentioned even once. It felt weird. The closest we get is Peter mentioned in reference is Aunt May and 'all that she's been through" or something similar. If someone avoided all prior knowledge by some miracle and saw the movie, for all they know, she beat breast cancer.

SMH is the worst Spider-Man movie adaptation ever. 1st, SMH wasn't even a Spider-Man movie but an Iron Man movie with Spider-Man in a supporting role not using his Spider-Sense but using AI suits given to him by Tony Stark. 2nd, SMH turns Spider-Man from a superhero who cares about using his powers for good because he has a "great responsibility" (as he learned from not stopping the thief that would kill Uncle Ben) into an immature and shallow, self-centered show-off who only cares about "When is Happy Hogan going to call me back?" and "I hope Tony Stark is impressed with what I'm doing". |

In SMH, they retconned Civil War so he doesn't have any Spider-Sense anymore. This is proven in SMH when he ditches Liz at the Homecoming Dance and puts on his Spider-Man costume and runs out of the building and gets ambushed by a bad guy and needs Ned to save his ass. No way that should happen if he had Spider-Sense. So he clearly didn't have Spider-Sense in SMH, which means MCU has already retconned Civil War.
That's also why the school is showing PSAs of Captain America. At the end of Civil War, Cap is supposed to be a fugitive. No high school would ever allow any of their teachers to show students a PSA with a criminal in it. That would be like a high school allowing their football coach to show the football team PSAs or motivational videos with O.J. Simpson in it.
So in SMH, Spider-Man doesn't have Spider-Sense and Cap isn't a wanted fugitive. So SMH has already retconned Civil War.

There aren't many opportunities for anyone yet alone young people to break into that field. For starters, you need to be rich which Peter is not. You do need modern, professional equipment to be taken seriously but, the inmate skills that are necessary to excel in the field, attention to detail, excellent composition, understanding of perspective and light, etc., don't come from a tool. They come from the photographer. If the only pictures available of Spider-Man in combat come from a cell phone, a news outfit would find a way to run it. |

Nope, it was always there. The Spider-Sense isn't omnipotence, it isn't flawless. Spidey's been ambushed in the comics plenty of times to prove this. As for the Cap PSAs, it was to show that there are people who don't think he's a criminal. Plus the Principal of the school was the grandson of one of Cap's wartime pals. |

You know how you constantly link the RT 50 Best Superhero Movies Of All Time list as "proof" that Wonder Woman is the greatest superhero film...and how it's been mentioned your reliance on it will bite you on the ass, well... Spider-Man Homecoming is the highest rated Spidey film on that list....so what is it to be. SMH is the best Spider-Man film or Wonder Woman is not the greatest superhero movie? Actually the tutor, after introducing the video says he thinks Cap might be a criminal now....but you wouldn't know that because it's, as ever, obvious you didn't see the film |

I would have liked for it to have had a presence even if it was a miniscule one, like after Ned finds out about Peter they geek out over Spidey articles online and they are all positive except for the Bugle's online stuff which is as anti-spidey as ever, or they watch a montage of spidey related YouTube vids, a fun and easy way to cameo some actual youtubers and also real actors with Spidey pedigree to their credit and you just get a reaction of Ned & Peter reacting to Jameson screaming about Spidey which is near inaudible to us, and we only know it's J Jonah because they name drop him when saying how he really hates Spidey.
It's a part of the Spidey fabric so it would be nice to have it be a part of the film but there wasn't room really for more than a nod to it imo.
