Should have happened. Who's with me. Thoughts? Discuss.

It depends on when and which territory. I am blocked from video right now so I can't view that. But from what I understand he wanted to turn heel in around '91 but they didn't want him to. I can't picture steamboat as a heel because he never did it. But if it were let's say around '81 had Hogan come into the Mid-Atlantic territory as a heel and worked Steamboat they probably would've made it work. But I"m not sure how the fans in that territory would've taken to Hogan since they were used to Steamboat against smaller guys that can really go and have the classic style of match. But Steamboat could've made just about anything work.

Champ he was the #1 contender, etc etc. Steamboat shocks the world and rolls Hogan up in a small package to pin him to gain the strap. Could throw it right back to Hogan at the next PPV.

I think then the fans would turn on Ricky Steamboat and then he'd end up turning heel and then they'd have a real program

I agree. I mean, they were already apart of the two biggest matches at WrestleMania III.

Snuka was for a long time mostly heel. The time for steamboat to do it was when he wanted to in early 90's when he wasn't really that over anymore as a face.

I can't view the video now so I'm going by memory. From what I remember that only lasted a few months. They did some tapings and some house shows. I remember some 6 mans they did with Orndorff. I believe they got a couple of shots at the titles with the champs being Volkoff and sheik at the time. But it was a pretty short run and they didn't make that big of a deal of it. I actually forgot that they teamed together.

I actually forgot that they teamed together. here's how i can see a 'Heel' Steamboat working. because i wouldn't buy his promos at all. he confronts Hogan about being the IC champ and wanting a shot - knowing he can be the man (ala Warrior at Mania 6). maybe he swerves 'full heel' after feeling disrespected and snaps - and then Mr. Fuji is his manager and Yokozuna is his henceman. could have then had 'The Steamer' win gold - there's a riff (ala the HBK/Diesel bodyguard stuff) and Yoko and Steamboat feud which eventually puts Yoko over.

That would probably be similar to the way they would've done it. Either that or just plant the seeds for it for awhile and then have the face vs. face match and have him win by cheating or something like that. That's what Pat Patterson felt that people wouldn't buy it. But look at Ted Dibiase who was the most plain and dull face in the history of the business and he turned out to be one of the greatest heels ever. So he may have been able to do a great job with it.

I've actually thought about that in regards to Chico especially when he did that matador thing. That looked like it could've been a heel gimmick or maybe they were going to do that with him. If Hector and Chavo could do it, I don't see why he couldn't do it. He was good and probably had personality that just needed to come out.

Or better yet if they showed up in ECW in 1994 and did it there.

Which one is that? I'm blocked from video right now shane douglas winning the nwa belt and then crapping on it with an epic promo - but what comes is great - Doink (matt borne) alone with Shane cutting a great promo.... borne is terrific here channeling an early roddy piper - shows how talented the two were......
