I don't think anyone thinks that do they? No. But making a huge fuss over the figure does beg the question - Why make such a big deal over a fairly meaningless statistic?

Well 99% of critics liking is pretty impressive really. It's good news for the people that have spent months looking forward to seeing it and hoping it's good. Theyre probably just happy it's a good movie is all.

Does rating a movie 6/10 mean you liked it? Or does it mean you thought the movie was okay?

It'd mean they thought it was ok but going by your OP the average rating is a 7.8. That would mean people on average liked it quite a bit.

That's a good point. That's the reason why Rotten Tomatoes is a very flawed system.
That being said, a 7.8/10 is still really good.

The simple logic is that there must be a lot of 6+ ratings to balance out all of the 8+ ratings. Quite a few people thought the movie was just okay.

I don't think anybody thinks that. What it does say, however, is that 99% of people who watched it liked it.

Very true, take for example a film like Wonder Woman - surely a good film but, really, only 92% of critics thought it was only at least okay. People just don't want to understand. Hee hee hee...

No. It says that 99% of critics thought it was at least okay. It means 99% of people who watched it and put in a critical rating liked it. It only means that if people "like" movies they give 6/10 to. When you give a movie 6/10, does it mean you like it or that you think it is okay?

It means 99% of people who watched it and put in a critical rating liked it. It only means that if people "like" movies they give [at least] 6/10 to. When you give a movie 6/10, does it mean you like it or that you think it is okay? So a movie that has AT LEAST 6/10 is considered good.

So a movie that has AT LEAST 6/10 is considered good. How many blockbuster movies do you watch with an average RT rating of 6/10 that you think are "good"? For a crowd pleaser like Ragnarok, an average rating of 6/10 would be a massive kick in the gonads. RT have chosen to use that definition because it suits them.

Just sayin'............. 78% average rating actually. That's STILL pretty impressive in light of how movie critics work. Think about it, a higher percentage of critics (99%) enjoyed this than any other superhero film made to date. If the ratings keep up like this, it could arguably be the most critically acclaimed superhero film of all time, at least for now. And who would've thought that, especially after the first two "Thor" films were considered decent quality but perhaps in the weaker end of the MCU spectrum, this film would not only trounce both of them, but also end up being widely considered one of the best "episodes" of the entire MCU series?
