Anyone here prefers Exorcist III over Exorcist I (1973) I actually really like Brad Dourif as the Gemini Killer who was really frightening and very intense without needing special effects as opposed to a vulgar and obscene pea soup spitting possessed little girl.

Yes. It's one of my favorite movies. Terrific Crime Drama/Mystery/Suspense/Thriller/Horror. Own the book Legion too by Blatty.

^He did direct The Ninth Configuration though. Didn't get into that at all, though I do love The Exorcist III. According to Blatty these three make a trilogy.

I find III easier as a film to watch and is more creepy from a horror perspective. They both have their own unique style. I agree with that.

I actually haven't seen Exorcist III yet. After reading the comments I'll have to give it a watch though.

It was okay, but not better than the original I don't think. As good as Dourif is/was, kind of a shame they couldn't use Miller the whole time. That hospital scene is a brilliant piece of direction, though.

Anyone here prefers Exorcist III over Exorcist I (1973) Actually I do. I own Exorcist III on DVD and that's the only film in the series I own.

Haven't seen the film in its entirety, but I have seen one scene (the hospital jump scare), and it is truly one of the scariest moments in film. I'll get around to watching the full movie eventually.

I like III, but not as much as the first one. Naturally, anything is better than II.

I do prefer III over the original. I tend to be more engaged by the story, and its build-up. George C. Scott helps a lot too. And the hospital sequence is how you deliver, and shoot a perfect jump scare. Unnerving to the core.

I think part 3 is pretty damn good. Sure beats the crap out of part 2.

Actually yes, given the choice between them as a preference to keep then it would be 3. I loved the book and was delighted to find the film version was equally as good. I only recently had an upsurge in a liking for the 1st one, having recently viewed the version we hadn't seen and found it considerably more rewarding than my last viewing of the original cut some 20 years ago.
Anyway, The Exorcist III: Legion is a great supernatural serial killer pic!

That jump scene from The Exorcist III almost killed me in the theatre in 1990, and the movie is really great.
But the original is just too ballsy, brazen and badass, I love it!
