So I meet this lady, she tells me she's never watched a single MCU film. I do the only logical thing a gentleman would do: Invite her to watch Thor Ragnarok. Question for those who've watched it: Can someone who's never watched a single MCU movie still understand and enjoy this movie?

Yes, most of it would be imo. Thats the part that counts for it to be enjoyable. As for the rest, just fill in the blanks afterwards for her.

You might be asking this a bit too early, since a lot of us still haven't seen it.

They could definitely enjoy it sure and understand it because most of its story is self contained.
There's only things here and there that she might not understand. Like Odin's disappearance and Loki's disguising himself as him which was shown in Thor 2.
Some character relationships like Thor and Loki or Thor and Hulk. Who Doctor Strange is etc.
Nothing too major though.

How would anyone who has never seen an MCU movie know what the hell that means? "Friend from work?" What kind of work did they do together?

I guess that wouldn't make sense to the two people on Earth who didn't see the Avengers. Hee hee hee...

You really are slow at getting things. I'm referring to the OP's post about taking his friend who has never seen an MCU movie to watch Thor: Ragnarok. Even if you haven't seen The Avengers, most people would know that Thor and Hulk are members of the Avengers.

People know that the Hulk and Thor are members of the Avengers even without seeing the movies. Just like people know, without seeing Justice League, that Superman and Batman are on a team together. It's common knowledge.

Yeah you wouldn't have needed to see past movies for that. I'm sure most people would be familiar with the fact that Thor and Hulk just like Iron Man and Captain America are all part of The Avengers.
It's in posters, trailers, TV adverts etc.

I would assume if somebody hadn't seen any MCU films prior to Thor: Ragnarok they are likely to recognize the fact that they are both Avengers from the plethora of merchandise seen in stores across their native land or from what they can find via research on the internet which, just to remind you, can even these days be accessed via their own phone.
