I'm 57 yrs old. Want to hear a good one? My husband of 20 yrs went to bed early while I was doing stuff in the kitchen. After I finished I sat down to watch the news, but fell asleep. I woke in the morning to go to the gym, walked past the bedroom, saw my husband lying on the bed. He was a horrible practical joker so I told him to stop teasing & went about my business in the bathroom. When I came back to the bedroom he was still lying on the bed so I turned the light on & realized he wasn't teasing. I made all the calls I needed to. Waited for the paramedics to arrive. Made a few stupid jokes on some of the calls. I was numb. I remained numb until after the viewing. Husband lying dead. I did CPR on him. I can't say who or what on the lame jokes, but I know I made them because I was trying to stay calm, not think about how my life had totally & completely changed Tell me again what you know about real life, poelzig. I work with a guy like my husband-does horrible jokes. I have told him about my husband, told him it's going to happen to him if he's not careful with the horrible practical jokes. Just because you thought it's OK to joke about your situation doesn't mean everyone should treat serious moments like a joke. poelzig is not alone. The majority of people agree that the Avengers constantly treating war and people getting killed as a big joke as just silly.
And before any MCU fans make up lies and claim that the Avengers never joked about war, in The Avengers, Iron Man referred to the battle against the Chitauri as a "party". Aliens invade and are killing people and Iron Man calls it a "party".
So it's something that has been around a long time, dude. This entry in Urban Dictionary was made January 18, 2005 I've heard the term since the 80s. A dead human, horribly burned beyond recognition. Child. Adult. They're crispy critters. Because if one stopped to think about it, it would be too horrible to imagine. I grew up with a couple of terminally ill cousins down the road. We laughed & had fun & didn't talk about the fact they wouldn't see their 18th birthdays. You can't be somber all the time

How is saying the word "party" a joke? It's just a line of dialogue. Wow, even in the face of someone who I believe works with the police (merh) if memory serves, DC-Fan will still just dig his heels in and double down on being an asshole.

Dakprescottfan is really grasping for straws, yet Batman can say "I'm not the one with a pitchfork" into battle.

How is saying the word "party" a joke? It's just a line of dialogue. Calling it a "party" when people are getting killed turns it into nothing but a big joke. Imagine if the Las Vegas police referred to the mass shooting a couple of weeks ago as a "party".

How would you write that scene Mr. Screenwriter?

They could've used any number of different words, but they specifically chose to use the word "party" because they literally meant to treat the war and people getting killed as nothing but a big joke.
How could that scene be written? How about:
"I'm bringing the battle to you" "I'm bringing the fight to you" "I'm bringing the invaders to you" "I'm bringing the aliens to you"
But he specifically says "I'm bringing the party to you". Aliens invade New York and are killing people, and Iron Man refers to it as a "party". Like I said before, MCU movies treat war and people getting killed as nothing but a big joke.

To be fair Batman has always been funny so a funny line or two isn't new. With the exception of the 'Nolan' movies where they made Batman some mopey lone vigilante Batman was comedic at times in a lot of the comic books especially when he was with other members of the Bat Family like Barbara, Dick, Stephanie, Cassandra, Tim and Harper. It is only that Nolan turned him into something he never was on screen we haven't seen that much of that side of him but longtime Batman/Bat Universe fans have been seeing it for decades.

Hogan's Heroes and M.A.S.H. were sit-coms. So you're admitting that MCU movies are just sit-coms.

That's just the same kind of slang soldiers use like "Light him up" or "Coming in hot". Deal with it.

Spider-man makes jokes all the time in bad scenarios, he says he does it to get over the fear.

Hogan's Heroes and M.A.S.H. were sit-coms. So you're admitting that MCU movies are just sit-coms. MASH was a movie with Donald Sutherland first. Romeo & Juliet isn't a comedy. Mercutio makes jokes while fighting.

I have a feeling that Whedon is going to ruin this movie. No, that'd be Snyder. nope... not one sided at all...

No, it's just you being negative, with your panties in a twist about the MCU's success, and you're trying anything to discount the MCU because of it. Come on, don't rise to him.

Even soldiers and police do this, to calm their nerves and to ultimately get the job done which can sometimes be really ugly work. Otherwise it can be a bit too much. You can take it all seriously if you want to but then PTSD happens or you find yourself at the bottom of a bottle.

[Batman was comedic at times in a lot of the comic books especially when he was with other members of the Bat Family like Barbara, Dick, Stephanie, Cassandra, Tim and Harper. There's a scene in one if the Green Lantern Corps books where Guy Gardner moons Batman from the window of a rocket ship. Batman: Tell Gardner he needs a shave. lol

Funny, I remember that line from GLC as well, pretty sure he's also made the odd line in BTAS that could be interpreted as humour. I've got no problem with the pitchfork line in the trailer. At least Bats delivers it straight, not in a smirking/ironic fashion. An overly serious Batman could actually end up more unintentionally comical. (Am I the only one who laughs at some bits of Nolan's Bat movies, even as a fan?)
If anything, the only main thing that's annoyed me about the trailers is that lame Beatles cover, for some reason that song just grates on me (the cover version that is), and I'm guessing that was a Snyder thing, I know he does like to make "cute" music choices sometimes (I'm thinking of certain scenes in Watchmen) which can irritate somewhat. I actually preferred the cover version of "Heroes", maybe that was another Snyder choice, but it worked a lot better IMO.

I remember all of those jokes in Civil War during the street fight and the final Cap/Iron Man battle. I also remember them during the street fight in Winter Soldier, and the final fight in The First Avenger, and......oh wait. There were no jokes in those scenes? Okay.
