... if not more awkward with all the allegations and accusations being tossed around lately? I didn't enjoy or condone Chris Rock's handling of the whole #OscarsSoWhite thing at all but I kind of wish he'd be back this year. Almost. He'd certainly say far more about Weinstein and company than Jimmy Kimmel might. Is he still on as the host?

Ricky Gervais should be host. That'd go down well, for me. Kimmel is still hosting, yes.

All that '#OscarsSoWhite' stuff does is basically force people to give minorities more awards regardless if they deserve them or not. i.e. lowers the worth of the awards because of that.
i would rather win straight up vs basically saying telling people to give you awards because your a minority as it makes their wins worth more winning straight up.
or let me apply a similar scenario to my own race (i.e. white people)... it would be like me, as a white guy, complaining that not enough white guys win the MVP of the league award in the NBA as black guys nearly always win that but it's natural for that to happen because they tend to dominate the league and i would rather when a white guy does win it's legit and not because people complain about it because they are a minority (as white guys are a minority in the NBA etc). so when Steve Nash (a white guy) won his MVP award years ago it feels more legit since no one begged for it basically.
so i simply look at things in terms of math... since white people tend to dominate most major name movies/roles they will naturally get the most awards in general. because when you suddenly see a decent increase of minorities getting awards it's obviously politics and not a straight up win. but they can't even see this, or...
...maybe they don't really care if the win is legit or not if those Oscar wins help boost their careers so they get more $$$ or fame etc. because assuming that stuff is true... then they probably don't even care and will likely support the whole #OscarSoWhite thing if it raises there chances of winning awards to help their careers etc. my guess is this boost to their career aspect does not cross their mind though and they want the praise of the win etc even though they fail to see this point i made.
but i suspect the days of more legit Oscar wins are over given it's been tainted and you can't really undo all of that stuff as the damage has been done and being they are liberals they don't want to 'offend' minorities by not caving into their demands. but even before the #OscarsSoWhite stuff it seems that politics tend to play a decent role in their nominations etc in general as, at least in my opinion, most of the most enjoyable movies are movies NOT nominated for Best Picture even though they do get some quality ones here and there.
