I really enjoyed it. It's a top 5 Marvel movie for me. I give Marvel a lot of shit for being too jokey, but it worked here. Thor has always been a funny character, and given the over-the-top plot, I had fun with it. The humor really landed for me.
As far as the story goes, I think they spent too much time on Goldblum's planet. Made it feel like Thor's story wasn't as connected to Hela's as it should have been. But it's still fun and enjoyable.
Logan Wonder Woman Thor: Ragnarok Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Spider-Man: Homecoming
All of 'em were good this year (so far).

Weird, I've seen lots of comments on YouTube reviews saying the humor ruined it. Then again YouTube comments are the scum of the internet.

And honestly, I barley noticed the humor. The film got serious in several places. Based on the reviews you'd think Rowan Atkinson was cast as the fifth Revenger.

Funny thing is, i probably like more MCU movies than you, but i didn't really care about Ragnarok. might give it another shot once it hits bluray

It gets tiresome, in my opinion, and in one or two scenes takes away from the gravity of the scene. I enjoyed the movie but the humour could certainly have been pared back.

If you barely noticed the humour you missed 90% of the movie, and the platform it was based on!

I think the humor worked for me because it was a different type of humor than Marvel usually shoots for. It was more slapstick and clever and silly. Marvel tends to turn everyone into a quip-machine, and that's not the case here. The humor comes from the inherent silliness of what's going on.

The humor worked for this film because it was just that kind of movie. It was fun and a little out there and playing it straight would have ruined the movie in my opinion. It is crazy how all of the Comic Book Movies this year have been great so far.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that. I mean the end battle scene where the Asgardians are in danger of being wiped out. Surrounded on both sides, Banner decides to leap from the space/aircraft to save the day as the Hulk and we see him land splat on his face as Banner. That scene for me was ridiculous and out of place, slapstick and the was nothing silly about the scene at that point that warranted it.

It was ridiculous and slapstick, and that's why I found it to be funny! I wasn't about a lame quip or Hulk trying to be a jokester. It was just a silly moment.

In a movie that was loaded with silly humor like that, I didn't find it out of place at all. But I'm not one to tell people what they should or shouldn't like. There are plenty of Marvel movies that others love that I think STINK (lookin' at you, Ant-Man).

In my opinion the humor was severely overplayed in the reviews and in the press. Thor Ragnarok was not a Ben Stiller movie from start to finish. Hee hee hee...

I haven't read much in the way of press reviews, just giving my opinion of what I saw. Incidentally this was much funnier than a Ben Stiller movie but so was Sophie's Choice!!.

This is great to hear because it's exactly what I'm hoping I'll say when I walk out of the theater on Tuesday. My problem with the humor in movies like AoU and Doctor Strange is the cookie cutter style of it all. The quips are so generic and forced. But in Ragnorak, as I understand it, the jokes are written with the director's unique comedic sensibilities, giving them a different, if not more intelligent, tone.

It's definitely a different type of humor than your standard MCU fare. Marvel always goes for the easy/obvious joke, and it usually comes off forced (IMO). Like, "See how funny we are?!" But this movie is different. It definitely feels like it was written by someone who ACTUALLY knows comedy. It's not someone just trying to do comedy.
