There's only one Game of Thrones. This is what Hollywood does. They continuously try to latch onto the present/past success of other shows/movies instead of looking towards the future: - When LOTR was a huge hit, we watched a string of bad fantasy movies come out (including Eragon). - Harry Potter splits the last book into multiple movies. The Hunger Games, Twilight, The Hobbit follow the same plan. - Batman Begins is a huge critic/fan success. Then every superhero movie has be dark. It worked for Batman because he's referred to as "The Dark Knight" but Superman and Iron Man too? Really? - Avatar is a success. Every movie tries to go for the 3D effect, ultimately burning out the consumer. - Pixar is big with CGI animation. Then every animated movies starts going with similar style of animation, resulting in consumer burn out. Anyone notice how there's way less of these animated movies coming out lately? - The Notebook is a success. Then studios started increasing the romantic dramas into overdrive until there was consumer burn out. - Etc, etc, etc... Hollywood shouldn't be asking "What's the next Game of Thrones?" They should be asking 'What is the next big franchise of books sitting untouched by film/TV?" There's so many great book series.

There is no such potential in the original material. When I first read The Lord Of The Rings, I thought it was quality literature for young adolescents and never felt the need to dive into it like some do. It's quite silly and the films didn't save any of it.
The Hobbit trilogy is flawed but its self-parody character somehow saves it. The ridiculous bits are intentional and I could laugh along while the goblins sang.

I'm conflicted about it , love to see movies or books thatvi loved or back but ONLY if they can come close to the original or do it better , Just like when a singer or band remakes a classic song ? It better be good otherwise don't bother, I agree there are so many good books They can turn into series

No chance of this happening here because the books are not long enough to be turned into a multi-season series. It would have to be new material taking place in the world of the books, like the extra characters and story-lines added to The Hobbit trilogy. Remakes are a different thing. They'd better be different to be interesting, unless they are remakes of some old silent film. And actually, I'm quite happy GoT improved on the books in the early seasons.

Haha. No.
There's only one GoT and it will never be replaced especially not by some cheap wannabe unnecessarily stupid reboot of a already masterful movie trilogy.

The books are fantastic. If you haven't read them you should! They're my favorite fantasy books next to GoT.

It sounds promising! Book three is coming out this month! They're kinda hard to get through as each are over 1000 pages long but it is entirely worth it. As far as high fantasy goes, I think this series outdoes LoTR. EDIT: Book 3 comes out today.

LOTR has no:
sex, politics, economy, real cities, nations/kingdoms and political players.

That doesn't make sense. GOT was the next Lord of the Rings. So another Lord of the Rings would be the next next Lord of the Rings I guess.
What a stupid idea though. (If it's actually based on LOTR) The movies were already near perfection. Sounds like an obvious cashgrab. A series taking place between The Hobbit and LOTR or one based on The Silmarillion could be cool though.
