There's an MCU fan whose favorite phrase is "artificial boosters". He uses that as an excuse for Wonder Woman being the #1 movie of the summer and #2 movie of the year (behind only Beauty and the Beast) and for Wonder Woman being a serious contender for a Best Picture Oscar nomination. He claims that the critics and Academy voters don't want to look like "misogynists", although he still hasn't explained why the critics had no problem looking like "misogynists" when Supergirl, Catwoman, and Elektra were released.
But if he's going to use the phrase 'artificial boosters", then he should start with MCU because the entire MCU is due to "artificial boosters", 1st from Superman: The Movie (because without Superman: The Movie, there is no superhero genre and no MCU) and 2nd from The Dark Knight (because The Dark Knight was the 1st superhero movie to draw in large numbers of non-comic book fans).

"Artificial boosters" should be taken as a compliment when haters want to hate but have no argument. It really means artistic boosters for a film beyond their artistic comprehension. "Artificial Downers" is the counter-force to that: those downers artificially prevent MCU from getting awards and the respect they deserve such as a place in the top 250 list or at the Academy Awards or G Globes. Its not because it's just junk food.

The Dark Knight was certainly not the first to bring in large amounts of non comic fans.
Spider-man wasnt far from being as successful domestically and likely sold more tickets than it worldwide.

Was it Spider-Man, who was responsible, that non comic book readers are more interested in those movies? I only thought it was The Dark Knight.

That's not what artificial boosters mean. If you really wanted to claim that MCU shows have artificial boosters similar to WW's "girl power" boost, then you can claim that for Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Pretty sure Black Panther will also get a boost for having a mostly black cast.

Yeah the original Batman movie in 1989 was a huge event itself. It was one of the grossing movies ever domestically at the time, smashed box office opening and caused the whole Batman's craze.

She's the only character with a higher domestic total than international, so clearly there is a factor contributing to that. What factor is that?

you are a dumb man, ArchStanton, a really dumb man. Is that why you created those sexist threads like "Did Gal Godot bang her friend in costume?" imdb2.freeforums.net/post/395947/thread
We get it, artificial booster is it when something daring is done that flopped every time so far and now succeeds on a massive scale, at least in some countries. Artificial booster for you dimwitted slobs.
I say you lay off your creepy porn obsession and all those fatty foods (including MCU) and start to add something to society. At least try.

Arificial boosters, really?
Could we let go of empty phrases?
It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing

A question that goes to the heart of the matter.
So naturally it is ignored ... and the person asking the question is maligned by someone who "drops the soap" in the mens shower.

A question that goes to the heart of the matter .
So naturally it is ignored ... quite the contrary, cupcake! It's explained above: It's called "Artificial Downers":
Guys like ArchStanton or you are the answer. Sexist bigots who create misogynistic threads and who are hating on women. No surprise that MCU after 17 (seventeen !!!) movies has not had one single non-male or even black lead. MCU are only seving their lowbrow audiences' appetite and aversions. Also, women are poison for the little kiddy boy and manchildren market: "YIKES I dont want a GIRLZ in my superhero movie!!!!!". Thus, the infamous history of female led CMBs.
These artificial downers are a lot stronger in less enlightened/developed markets . those are not that interested in female led CBMs but rather in raccon turds and spider poo poo heads. Say, whereas somebody like Stanton or you are rather the minority in civilized markets, guys like you are the massive majority in other markets.
Indeed, you really have deserved to be maligned with a million pieces of pink soap, cupcake.

"Artificial Downers" explain why WW got a higher domestic total than international?
That would make the international market the culprit ... due to it being "less enlightened/developed". Okaaaay ... that's your explanation.
I'm one of the people who saw WW in the theater and contributed to the higher domestic gross that ArArArchStanton is talking about. You seem more discombobulated that usual, champ. I wouldn't exactly call that sort of behavior a virtue.
