Not sure if that is quite correct. Sales of both publishers have been in decline. Looking at the figures for July, August and September (would have gone further but work browser is a bit slow on some sites) Marvel had a higher Unit and Dollar share of the market. They also beat DC on both counts for the year so far
Whilst the Batman-verse titles are selling very well the idea that they sell more than Marvel overall is far from true - despite Batman related comics being by far DCs biggest seller, and having the most titles in DC.
DC did have the biggest selling issue of the year with Dark Nights Metal #1 (261,997 estimated units), but that was just recently beaten by Marvel's Marvel Legacy #1 (298,242) which sold just under double the number of issues for Dark Nights Metal #2.

fair enough! This is a job for @deblovesbeccy
- Who in the big picture is doing relatively better with selling comics Marvel or DC?
- Is the Batfamily outselling Marvel?
This is our most desperate hour. Help me, @deblovesbeccy . You're my only hope.
In all time comic book sales the Bat Family are the biggest selling entity in comic books and the combined sales of the Bat Universe are over 1.5 billion worldwide. The Bat Universe consists of Batman, Batman & Robin, Batman: Detective Comics, Batman Arkham, Batgirl, Nightwing, Batwoman, Birds of Prey, Teen Titans, Titans, Red Hood and the Outlaws, the Black Canary (Dinah Drake), the Huntress, Robin: Son of Batman, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Deathstroke, Anarky, Midnighter, Red Hood/Arsenal, Suicide Squad, Secret Six, Gotham City Sirens, We Are Robin, Grayson, Batman: Incorporated, Batman/Superman, Poison Ivy, Batman Beyond, the Joker, GCPD, Gotham Central, Gotham City Garage, Gotham Academy, Gotham by Midnight, Batman: White Knight etc, etc and that is not counting the upcoming solo series of The Spoiler and the Signal which were confirmed by DC and the rumoured Clayface solo series which is very likely to go through.
The big difference between DC and Marvel in terms of movies is Marvel has had the majority of their most popular and biggest selling series on screen with the exception of their female superheroes like Ms Marvel, Spider-Woman, Captain Marvel, SpiderGwen, Shanna the She Devil etc whereas DC hasn't even had a quarter of their biggest names on screen and the solo Batman movie marks the very first time we will get the Bat Family on screen as confirmed by Geoff Johns and we now will see names like the Spoiler, Orphan, Red Robin, Batwoman, Red Hood, Bluebird etc on screen for the very first along with movies of Batgirl and Nightwing which are long, long overdue.
The Bat Universe should have been Warner Bros main focus from the get go and they had the chance to do it a decade ago but Christopher Nolan decided he wanted to make Batman into a Steven Segal hero type of character without all his main characters which was why they couldn't have any spinoffs from the movies at all. Warner Bros originally planned to have Catwoman, Nightwing and Birds of Prey movies in the late 90s but 'Batman & Robin' flopping lead to 'Batman: Triumphant' and all of them being cancelled except for 'Catwoman' which Warner Bros used a script for a different movie for and made some changes to make it Catwoman after Tim Burton and Michelle Pfieffer pulled out of the original movie which rightfully turned out to be a disaster since it had just as much in common with Catwoman as a 'Batman' movie with a guy called Tom that could transform into a bat.
I have no doubt the solo 'Batman' trilogy with the Bat Family is going to be the DCEU's biggest hit to date and that will change everything moving forward and with Geoff Johns saying a few months ago they have big plans to make more female superhero movies after the success of Wonder Woman names like Supergirl, Birds of Prey, Raven, Zatanna, Starfire, Batwoman, Power Girl, The Black Canary etc will dominate the female superhero movie genre going forward and phase 2 should consist of Supergirl, Green Arrow, Birds of Prey, Teen Titans and Martian Manhunter at the front but Warner Bros need to pick up their game like Biz said 'cause if they did they would dominate the industry and 'Suicide Squad' was a bad choice and was made WAY too early and there are bigger selling teams under DC like Teen Titans, Birds of Prey, Justice Society of America, the Legion of Superheroes, Gen 13, Wildcats, Justice League etc that deserved movies LONG before that. Most of my friends who like DC comics couldn't believe 'Suicide Squad' got a movie before those other ones.
