2013 - Man of Steel gets released to generally mixed reception by critics, large portion of DC fans say "the critics don't matter!", Iron Man 3 fares better than it and so does Thor: The Dark World by a little bit and apparently "critics are biased towards Marvel, they cannot be trusted."
2016 - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad get released to generally unfavorable reviews, almost as many DC fans as there were with Man of Steel still say "the critics don't matter!" and that they "are too Marvel/Disney biased!" to be taken seriously because Civil War and Doctor Strange scored so much higher.
2017 - Iron Fist and Inhumans get generally unfavorable reviews, thus disproving the belief that critics are Marvel biased. These same people ignore this and instead say "Marvel is dropping the ball! DC is the new king!" because Wonder Woman actually does get generally favorable reviews from most critics.
Justice League opens next week and so far no reviews have been publicly released, meanwhile Thor: Ragnarok had its embargo lifted weeks before release and its looking to be king of the box office again this weekend. It might be able to be "fresh" on the RT meter, but probably unlikely to match Thor: R's score, or Wonder Woman's.
You can't have it both ways, do critics matter or not?

Thor: Ragnarok had its embargo lifted weeks before release Raganarok had its embargo lifted just 5 days before release. 5 days isn't "weeks". 5 days isn't even 1 week.

I was hearing solid buzz and coming across reviews before that Sunday. Also, if Justice League gets bad reviews the "chances" of Wonder Woman winning let alone being nominated for Best Picture grow slimmer.

You seem to be taking comments made by individuals and treating them as if we're talking about some sort of hive mind. Critics matter to the individuals they matter to. And they don't matter to other individuals. They don't matter to me.

Critics never matter. The own opinion is what counts. Only if you a mindless sheep, agree with everything what they say.

Isn't that usually how it goes? If a Marvel or DC film given a good rating, especially on Rotten Tomatoes, both fandoms praise the rating and critics like they're good or something.
If it a negative review than their opinion is void and their paid by whatever Boogeyman of the day is.

Blade Runner 2049 clearly proves critics and their effect on box office is overrated.
As for comic book movies, look at Suicide Squad. Torn up by critics, but its legs at the box office were actually good, as it ended its run with a multiplier about 2.5. Something that rarely ever happens for movies like that.

Pretty simple to anyone who isn't a moron:
You can objectively state whether critics liked or didn't like something when you look at the RT score. However, the "critical consensus" should have no bearing on how YOU feel about a movie.
