- From the corporate logo depicting the iconic superheroes to the supervillain's flying robot army to the post-credits sequence, Justice League takes its lead from The Avengers, and the comparison does not flatter the current film. - DCEU is floundering. It needs to find a bold new direction if it ever hopes to flap its wings, let alone compete with Marvel. - It isn't nearly as much fun as The Avengers was, but it's not a total loss either, the way Batman vs. Superman was. - Justice League is a sloppy team-up film that doesn't even take time to properly introduce pivotal members of its titular team, but when you're playing a dangerous (also ill-advised) game of catch up, these are the risks. - To its detriment, Justice League constantly invites comparisons to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. - ...imperfect but another clear step towards the DC Universe taking its rightful place as Marvel's equal. - Justice League boom tubes onto the playing field to finally challenge Marvel Studios' comic book movie dominance.
Some of these are actually from positive reviews, but the trend I'm getting at here is clear. The cultural awareness that Marvel is the boss that DC can only aspire to be is clearly cemented in place. And not only that, but the appetite for DC to even continue trying to catch up is significantly waning. The number of people who want more Marvel and will eagerly hope for or at least willingly participate in a good version of whatever widely varied version of it comes next, numbers in the practically everybody range, while the number of people who give a shit if DC ever even attempts to make anything else is starting to get dangerously close to the only truly dedicated fans type of numbers.
There is a clear market slide going on right now, and I am telling you with 100% sincerity that if DC doesn't get it's act together tomorrow, and I mean first fucking thing at the crack of dawn, they are going to wake up in just a few short years like Blockbuster Video and the American Classic Indoor Shopping Mall Industry, and realize while they were sleep walking through they last decade they inadvertently loaded a shotgun and put it in their mouth. They have to scrap what they've fucked up and recommit to a well orchestrated direction or they are fucked with a capital fucked.

Well, they could have used Hades and his army of the undead to lay siege to Mount Olympus or something, which would have been different from The Avengers. Oh, wait, they stupidly killed off Wonder Woman's entire universe off-screen.

The level of stupity in this post is alarming. such as? DC is using post credit scenes now, so they must be doing it because of Marvel. Did Iron Man do it because of Street Fighter or the other movies that did it before that one?

What does that have to do with anything? I'm talking about the reputation of the brands and DC being backed so far into a corner right now that they don't have very many options left to do something about it. This is getting like a lopsided boxing match where one fighter is just getting faceblasted in the corner and there is no ref there to break it up.

Is this another pretend fight that some on message boards like to push for. And I was talking about that first quote. You can't even have a freaking logo without comparing it to the MCU? Why no mention they both feature popular superheros.

Hate to say it...but it is time reboot all of it. Keep Gal as Wonder Woman...she's been successful...but start over...and slow the hell down the next time.

You really don't think DC's introduction of the post credits scene wasn't influenced in any way by Marvel even though they've done it for the last decade over the course of 17 films? Granted, Marvel didn't event the technique but, they've used it to astonishing effect in their WOM Marketing.

I will only agree to a reboot if we burn all existing copies of JL first.

Yup. Time to reboot. And that's not trolling. That's reality. They have no choice. That's neither "reality" nor it is "time". The time to "reboot" this turdfest "universe" was FOUR YEARS AGO. Any director with integrity would have throw Goyer's putrid script for Man of Rehash in the garbage, fired him, and started over again from scratch. Instead, we now have THREE awful movies with Batman/Superman and ZERO good ones. You guys are all Johnny Come Lately for failing to realize this universe was stillborn until it was TOO LATE.

Look at Marvel replacing actors without making a fuss. They can carry on, just ignore what they choose to ignore.

And I was talking about that first quote. You can't even have a freaking logo without comparing it to the MCU? Why no mention they both feature popular superheros. There you go! You stumbled upon the answer without even realizing it. The Avengers and JL are both superhero movies, therefore comparison is inevitable. Particularly if they are both “team-up” superhero movies with many common elements. Excellent avatar, BTW. It is the sort of pouty face that must be prevalent among many DC fans right about now.

Why no mention they both feature popular superheros. The logo thing is more because it's a flip logo showing comic art. Their 1st one was kinda like Marvel's before Marvel changed theirs. Then DC changed it again to kinda match Marvel when they changed it to show their movie characters instead of comic panels. And has anyone noticed that they still have the white blonde-haired Aquaman instead of one that looks like Momoa in their character logo?
