No, amongst film fans maybe, but GA? Nah, most probably don't even know who Whedon is.

He's been for quite some time. Look at Watchmen, Sucker Punch, and Batman v. Superman. His audiences always seem to see his film opening weekend, but then casual movie goers seem disinterested. That explains why all his films have such humongous second weekend drops.

Zack Snyder has been terrible since Sucker Punch.
He makes amazing Opening Credits sequences. But knows nothing about long-form storytelling and character development.

That and honestly I think the man is just burned out from the critical drubbing and the production process. He's been doing movies like this for a decade now. Remember how haggard and forlorn he looked when BVS was released?

I think "DCEU" means "run away"

People really underestimated how much audiences disliked BvS. Oh yeah, the narrative that only stuffy critics didn't like it but audiences loved it, because, like, it made money (half of which was opening weekend before word of mouth). Honestly, he has one of the most baffling careers I've ever seen because Watchmen, Sucker Punch, and that owl movie all lost money. Yet somehow he got MoS, which did make money, but probably more for the "Nolan connection". BvS barely scraped by with a profit if the budget rumors are true, and he was looking certain to be replaced for JL, yet they only brought in Joss for some reshoots, and only because of outer circumstances. Snyder must have the greatest agent in Hollywood.

Like David Yates, Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuaron or even the Wachowskis. Apparently Yates was the favorite for Justice League back in 2012.

Cuaron probably wouldn't be interested, but I'd watch a David Yates JL film.

People really underestimated how much audiences disliked BvS. He might need to pull a Shyamalan and switch gears. Shyamalan was in a downward spiral until Split.

I mean we have that "get out!" Meme but it doesn't mean people know that that is Cary Grant or it's from "His Girl Friday"
