Twice now in the past few days I've had that malware attack where - while clicking or doing something here on V2 - I suddenly have the page get taken over with what looks like a Microsoft tech support page, everything freezes up, a message pops up on the screen saying something to the effect that your computer has been blocked, call this number immediatley, etc. Then, this serious-sounding female voice comes on your speaker (British accent, btw) and says: So, it's basically a tech support scam. Twice in the past few days. Anybody else getting this? And, why is it happening on this site? (I've got Mcafee anti-virus software installed and activated, and have never had a problem here in the past).
Confused.

Yes.
Just press 'ctr' + 'alt' + 'del' to bring up the task bar, close the internet browser down and start again.
Simples.

Yeah. you probably don't have a virus but if you do as the message says, YOU WILL. Clicking on whatever within the message is installation of the virus.
Ctrl Alt delete and force quit the internet browser you were on.

I just wanted to bring the topic up just to point out that it is this site (V2) that seems to be a "gateway" for them.

this site (V2) that seems to be a "gateway" for them. I doubt that. Read the support thread linked above.

I just found it strange that it's never happened before, yet suddenly has happened twice, in short order, only on V2. So maybe it's a random malware that can sneak in through any site.... in any case, I know enough not to click their links or act on their demands. Ctrl-alt-del and close the browser does defeat it. (or just hitting the power button and shutting down). No worries.

Catman was getting something like this on Firefox in the early days of this forum, but it claimed Firefox was infected and needed a file installed to prevent damaging the computer. Yeah, a third-party fix for Firefox? So Catman just shutdown Firefox and restarted.
After the third time, Catman reported it as a deceptive site to Mozilla. Haven't seen it since.

and that is one of the many reasons why I absolutely abhor Mozilla and firefox.

Deem, "V2" is shorthand for this here site, the one we're on: IMDB v2.0 --- Many of us are just calling it "V2" for short.
