Well, I didn't see Winger on the list, but I still managed to pick six from those available.

Beatles Stones Dylan Who Zep Elvis
Kinks shoulda been there. Had they not gotten shafted by the American Federation of Musicians and been banned from the US market in their peak years their reputation would probably be on the same level as the above.
Though I love many other artists on the list (especially Prince), many aren't "rock and roll." Many others are great, but not on the same level as the above.

He actually did a rock album - titled simply Rock - containing 24 minute long versions of Rebel Yell and Eve of Destruction. It's on youtube in its entirety if you're interested: link. He also did a split EP with GG Allin.

Only 1 vote? Come on!!!
Elvis tho. He gets the title because he's the one that had it. Much like Americas Team in the NFL. Many may have been better but the title is his first and always.
Personally I'd put the Beatles atop any list.

Solo or group. Pick up to 6. Kings, queens, your choice. Well by that list, the only artists who actually qualify as “rock n roll” would be: The Beatles Elvis The Rolling Stones (early era) Roy Orbison Buddy Holly Chubby Checker The Monkeys And then you left out a number of others like: Chuck Berry Fats Domino Little Richard The Beach Boys Jackie Wilson Jerry Lee Lewis

Not attacking just wondering I was never sure where I stood with what is and what is not rock and roll, like queen should surely make the list right? Give me death metal, at least I know where I stand with that.

Sister Rosetta Tharpe was rocking and rolling when most of these people were still in short trousers.
List is flawed.

I've been getting re-obsessed with Death (the band) lately. Those last four albums are as good as any four-album run in metal history, and I especially think the last two are towering masterpieces. What a tragic loss the death of Chuck was...

Ironically I have never been a huge death fan, cannibal corpse, deicide and autopsy are my favourites I think
