I guess they have seen how much money the MCU is making and want a piece of the pie for themselves. Any other business enterprise they might have invested in would have been shitcanned long ago if it had the kind of ROI WB receive from the DCEU. Up until now, they've probably seen it as investing in the future. Believing that if they could build the brand name, they would eventually make a killing. Sadly, the only thing they have managed to kill with their total lack of judgement, impatience and greed is the DCEU.

Who says they did? Even the disappointing performance BVS had, it still turned a profit over $100M for WB in the end.

Helps sells merchandise, comics, etc. They may lose money theatrically, but they all turn profits

Yeah except for probably Justice League they all made a good amount of profit.
Suicide Squad wasn't far off from being as profitable as Civil War and that was the highest grossing movie of 2016.

WB isn't losing any money. WB is making huge profits from the DCEU. People forget that profits don't come from just the theater revenues. Profits also come from the DVD sales (the DVD sales for BvS were huge) and merchandising.

Well, if you read any of the box office threads, they're all saying these movies have to make $600 million to $800 million or more to break even.
They've been saying that for years.
So I'm very surprised to see the responses on this thread.

How do they keep making them? Where is the money coming from? But they DO profit. I've done the research (which any can also do) and posted the numbers here on these threads in the past. ALL of them so far have been profitable.
JL is the first one that can be considered a flop by comparison, and it looks like with the world market they are going to break even soon, and then even dip into a little profit.
The movie is said to cost 300 mill (that's whats said anyhow), add another 100 mil to world wide advertising. That's it cost. Well, its already made that. Another 200 mill all told and it will actually be in profit.
Its a flop compared to how much more it could have made, sure, but its not a total disaster, due to the foreign market.

Then how come there are articles saying Warner Bros. is losing big money on Justice League's disappointing box office? The international market is pretty much keeping that movie afloat, it's getting little love over here in the states, which, as you've said before, is where "it all matters".

Just like all the articles that came out a month before Wonder Woman was released saying that the Wonder Woman movie was "a complete mess".

Face it, Justice League is a financial disappointment. Not even the Thanksgiving weekend made people want to see Justice League. So much for epic and historical.

The Justice League's first big film was beaten by a movie about Thor and the Hulk. Can you believe it?

Multiple sources which carry lots of credibility are all spreading lies because they are so against DC having another success. Get real.

So according to this chart, Wonder Woman is the most profitable superhero movie this year, easily beating SMH and GotG2 and Ragnarok.
