Patty Jenkins is now a finalist for TIME Magazine's Person the Year so this is more positive publicity that could help Wonder Woman nab a Best Picture Oscar nomination. TIME will announce the winner on December 6. Patty Jenkins Makes TIME’s Shortlist for Person of the YearBoth the Wonder Woman movie and Patty Jenkins herself have been greatly influential on the news (and on the filmmaking industry) since the film hit screens this past summer, and TIME Magazine recognizes that. TIME’s Person of the Year is determined based on how influential a person was in the news throughout the year, for better or worse – and this year that just might be Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, who’s now made TIME’s shortlist, consisting of 10 total finalists.

It won't be nominated for Best Picture, and when they announce that it hasn't are you gonna go with "fake news" like you did in reaction to Justice League's disappointing box office?

You seem really scared that Wonder Woman will be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. Why would I? It's one of my favorite films of the year, I just do not consider it to be "best picture material" because I enjoyed it a lot.

Come on now. Most casual people have no idea who she even is. Wonder Woman is a good movie and I enjoyed it, but it is bordering on the most overrated movie I can think of. Best Picture? Come one now. Seriously?

If she get's it, one of the biggest factors will be because she'd be available for an interview.

So many disappointments in one year for poor DC-Fanboy ... The Patriots win another Super Bowl. Tom Brady is the leading candidate for MVP. The Cowboys are crashing and burning (on schedule). Wonder Woman fails to best SMH at the box office and on the RT tomatometer. Justice League is a disaster. Patty Jenkins fails to win Person of the Year. Something tells me that 2018 won't be much better ... starting on January 23rd.

You seem really scared that Wonder Woman will be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. So Patty didn't win. She didn't win but she was a finalist and made the top 10, which is the same thing that Wonder Woman will probably do with the Oscars. Wonder Woman won't win the Best Picture Oscar but Wonder Woman will probably be a finalist and make the top 10, which means a Best Picture Oscar nomination (since the Academy increased the maximum number of Best Picture nominees to 10 after TDK was snubbed for an Oscar nomination in the 2008 award year).

Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better about yourself. If you really need an award to validate yourself, then you're truly pathetic

Dude you are setting yourself up here for defeat. It is not going to get nominated for Best Picture. And when it doesn't...there will be no end to the hell these people will give you and it'll be so f**king dull to watch. Just let it go. It is a great movie...but it is not what the Academy considers Best Picture material.

I think it is awesome Patty came in the top 10. Love it or hate it 'Wonder Woman' was not only the most successful female lead comic book movie of all time but it is the most successful movie made by a female director and it has had a much larger impact on the movie industry than any other movie this year proving something us fans have known all along which is female heroes sell and us fans have been starved of female lead comic book movies for WAY too long. Thanks to the success of 'Wonder Woman' we now have movies of 'Red Sonja' (which is being fast tracked due to 'Wonder Woman'), a 'Razor' franchise, 'Fathom', 'Batgirl', 'Painkiller Jane', 'Avegeleyne', 'Sheena: Queen of the Jungle', 'Strangers In Paradise', 'Nonplayer', 'Strike', 'Gotham City Sirens' Princeless', 'The Pro', 'Silver and Black' and 'Wonder Woman 2' all in development and a movie and TV show of 'Danger Girl.' As many sites have pointed out there has never been so many female lead comic book movies in development and a lot of it is due to the success of 'Wonder Woman.' I think Batgirl, Razor and Red Sonja will be the bigger hits though. 'Razor' will literally turn the comic book movie genre on its head.

I thought this was a joke until I saw it on the news.
Why exactly was she in the running??
Look, I'm all for equality for women, but what exactly did a WW movie do to change anything in the real world? Pretending like it did is just silly and pathetic.
And WW wasn't even the best comic movie of the year. Logan has that honor. Why not make Hugh Jackman person of the year instead?
