Hi, I'm having a problem with my computer that i built myself in April this year. My computer sometimes works perfectly fine when i play games with low requirements like CS:GO, but has problems when I play games that require a bit more like Just Cause 3 for a longer period of time (like 2 hours) and suddenly shuts off without any warnings. For 30 seconds after, when i try to turn it on again, the mono lights up, but immediately turns off again as the computer wont start. There are also light in the GPU, so i don't think those are faulty, but i might be wrong? Yesterday i turned on my computer and was about to uninstall a driver updating program I had just downloaded, but didn't want anyway, and it shut down again. The difference now is that it won't turn on again, and it has been 12 hours since it turned off. I read some places that it might be the CPU that is dead? I don't know a lot about computer, so I don't know if it's because of my build neither, so I was hoping someone might be able to help me locate the problem. Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet. References:http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f15/computer-wont-start-1219866.html animated campaign video

My father and uncle (brothers) used to build computers for themselves often.
They stunk. Donkey balls.
You really get what you pay for.

Sounds like your CPU overheated and finally died.

I don't know a lot about computer Yeah, I don't know a lot about microwave ovens. So naturally I decided to build my own. That was before I melted the kitchen.

It could be that you didn't provide adequate ventilation or cooling. If that's the case, and it won't start again and shows no signs of life (fans coming on, beeping, etc), it may have fried something on your motherboard and you'll have to replace it and other components that were damaged. If you get it to start again, I'd recommend getting MSI Afterburner ( www.msi.com/page/afterburner) to check the temperature of your GPU.

I would be completely lost without Best Buy and Geek Squad. Lay people are so much better off letting the computer geeks handle things like this.
My last laptop was broken (yet able to work) beyond GS and even factory replacing the screen so BB allowed me to return my otherwise unreturnable laptop and I basically got a $500 new computer for like 280.

This may or may not work, but your graphics card could be toast and your motherboard still good. If you have onboard graphics on your motherboard, you might get away with pulling your graphics card and running off of the onboard graphics. Depending on your motherboard, you may have to set it up to use those onboard graphics, look at the manual that came with the board to see how. If you don't have onboard graphics, you can always try another video card before you trash the motherboard.
When you are saying it won't turn on, do you mean you don't see anything on the screen, the power supply doesn't fire up, you get a bios beep code, or something else?

I think we have a ring and runner in our hands. Creating threads and then never getting back to us.

Seems like a possible CPU overheating issue or possible GPU but chances are the GPU is not overheating since it's not that old and unless a boatload of dust built up in 6 months time it seems unlikely that's overheating. did you ever check out what temp the CPU runs at? ; when i swapped out my motherboard/CPU/RAM back in May 2012 i always run a Prime95 test as that will stress the CPU quite a bit to achieve temps higher than you will experience in normal usage situations and if that don't cause your computer to lock up from overheating etc chances are it's fine. you can use temp monitoring programs to see what the temps are running at and then find out what's the max operating temp of your CPU as this will give you a general idea on whether your CPU is being cooled well enough or not. they even have stress tests for your GPU like FurMark which will basically max out your GPU temp if you leave it running for long enough. you can even run a RAM test, which is free(runs from bootable CD/DVD or USB), to make sure that's in good running order... www.memtest86.com/with that said... we need more info from the OP as i wonder if there is any response from the computer at all when the power button is pressed or does it act like it's stone dead with nothing happening whatsoever etc. but it appears the OP disappeared and likely won't be back. deembastilleI always prefer to make my own over a pre-built PC as you can get better quality components this way. all you really need to do is research things decently before buying as that way you can get quality components and find that sweet spot of power/price etc.

mslo79, If you know what the hell you are doing then I am all for it. The problem is that if something major breaks geek squad will bite you in the ass for using them to fix what is most likely your mistake. And they should. They back up their electronics and will go to the end of the earth to fix it and keep their customers happy.

Most likely the op is a ringer and runner. He has pulled this shit with every thread he has created. Forget him!

no, not at all BATouttaheck... but every thing this guy writes, every question he asks, every thread he starts, he never comes back. what's the point? admins should ban him just for the sake of clean-up.

I never saw "ring and runner" I love it. deembastille Leastwise these guys sometimes get an conversation going even tho' they leave. I don't mind so much unless it's an obvious trolling question and they just wanted to see what they could stir up.
EDIT Made a look'n'see run and the posts are well written and all end with T hanks!
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet. <appropriate link> Only a couple of the posts subjects seemed a tad "off" really.
in any case <shrug>

deembastilleThat was the one that made me look farther into his history. Smacked of troll-speak but the others seemed not so far off the wall. I see many really lame questions on many boards so that one didn't set off any huge alarms. At least he isn't a stalker or someone smearing stuff on the walls. For me, he remains a firm <shrug> !
