Yeah even I rolled my eyes at that. I think they're combining Little John with the Moor/Saracen character in recent works. The released photos suggest that at least there will be some color here.

How cool would it be to see the story from the perspective of the sheriff?.

How cool would it be to see the story from the perspective of the sheriff?. That was the original premise of the Ridley Scott film but obviously, changes were made. It makes sense given how much emphasis is on Prince John, his henchmen, and court politics. You know, the stuff you want from a Robin Hood movie.

No surprise. Hollywood will never again show an all white society in Europe no matter how historically inaccurate their revisions are.
The 1991 version was an earlier example of the forced diversity as well as friendly attitude towards muslims (though I think the Ghost and the Darkness was more obvious since the muslim railroad workers were humanized while the hindu ones were ridiculed).

More like "Lil Jon", amiright?
...
But seriously, another one? Starring that charisma vacuum from Kingsman? Costarring Christian Grey? If they adapted that script from the sheriff's POV, I'd be interested, but we need another straight Robin Hood movie like we need another King Arthur.

A black Little john might work, but Jamie Foxx is such an odd choice. Couldn't they find a British actor?

The Mask of Zorro carried itself with a straight face and was awesome.

The Sheriff was a relatively minor character in the traditional telling of the story. Sir Guy of Gisborne is the main villain.

Why are there so many reboots of Robin Hood. He is nearly as cool as Batman and even the Batman iterations are getting tiring...

I agree with Rolf, instead, we should get back to some "Zorro" movies....Antonio Banderas needs a good job for a change

They're making it sound like the Ridley Scott film with more political projection and less Sherwood thieving.
Eh whatever, it's not yet another Marvel or DC or Star Wars film. We need more history-based stuff.

From what I read, this is gonna be a "gritty take", which is basically the Crowe version. I also don't think there are as many Zorro movies as King Arthur and Robin Hood, FWIW.

The Crowe version wasn't just gritty, it was more about Magna Carta and Anglo-French wars than classic Robin stuff. Almost entirely.
