A lot of rumors have been going around the last months about the directors for season 8, but we finally got a confirmation. culturess.com/2017/12/18/game-thrones-season-8-spoilers-directorial-breakdown/Episode 1 - David Nutter Episode 2 - David Nutter Episode 3 - Miguel Sapochnik Episode 4 - David Nutter Episode 5 - Miguel Sapochnik Episode 6 - David Benioff & Dan Weiss This is a fantastic choice of directors. David Nutter is easily the best drama/emotions director of the show and Sapochnik doesn't really need an introduction after Hardhome, Battle of the Bastards & the masterpiece called 'The Winds of Winter'. What do you think of the directors. Normally I'd be a little sceptical of the creators doing the final episode, but these guys have shown their directing talent with Two Swords, which is still imo the best first episode of a GoT season. These are the episodes they've done so far: David Nutter: The Old Gods and the New, A Man Without Honor, The Rains of Castamere, Mhysa, The Dance of Dragons, Mother's Mercy. Miguel Sapochnik: The Gift, Hardhome, Battle of the Bastards, The Winds of Winter. David Benioff & Dan Weiss: Walk of Punishment, Two Swords

David Nutter has also done other great episodes like 'The Trickster', 'Out of Time' & 'Fast Enough' from The Flash (3 of the shows best episodes) & 'Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose' among other episodes from The X-Files.

Without a doubt two of the best directors of the show. Even if the script isn't quite on par and leaves something to be desired (which I have faith D&D will deliver), with the talent of Nutter and Sapochnik they can transform a poor script into something magnificent. I have no doubt that if Sapochnik directed S7E6 that it would've been a incredible episode, despite its writing flaws. Sapochnik will without a doubt tackle the battle sequences so I guess it's safe to say episodes 3 and 5 will contain something massive? And like you said, Nutter is great at emotion. Hopefully we'll finally see some major character deaths done right and captured with as much power as 'The Red Wedding'. And I guess it's only fitting that D&D close their saga with directing the last episode. They earned it.
