If this is the case with Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher starring in prominent roles, how will Episode IX do?
How will Rian Johnson's completely all-new trilogy with all-new actors and all-new characters and no returning veterans do?
I don't think Rogue One is a valid example, because even though that had all-new actors and all-new characters save for six familiar faces, it was basically a snack in between two main courses as well as a lead-in to Episode IV.
The solo Solo movie is already being pegged for tanking at the box office.
Is there a future for Star Wars theatrical motion pictures beyond Episode IX, if even that?

Yes, there is a future. But I think Disney turned off a lot of people with TLJ, and not just the hardcore fans this time. Hopefully they will just go back to trilogies every ten years, and one that is completely mapped out before shooting a single frame.
First thing i'd do is put the Rian Johnson trilogy on hold.

Yeah, that's sort of interesting. I can't imagine them giving the pretentious, unqualified little prick ten hours and a half a billion dollars or whatever for a budget given the response to this film. But they're also too prideful and awful and insipid and evil to retract their effusive praise of him/TLJ. (I almost pissed myself when footage of their pathetic Oscar consideration DVD hit the web.) So who knows? They'll prolly just ram Johnson's trilogy (not one standalone film for this nose-picker to fart around with; a FUCKING trilogy!) through regardless, I guess? |

I hated TLJ and will avoid any future Rian Johnson "Star Wars" films like the plague. I wasn't interested in the Han Solo film before, and am even less interested now. I plan to skip that. As for Episode IX, I may attend a matinee showing like I did for TLJ, or I may skip it.
