Not so many years ago on the old IMDB boards that were actually affiliated with IMDB many of the members of the R, F & S board would often post things like ... I believe those attitudes were prevalent in the wider world also. I believe they still are prevalent in the wider world. I don't believe they are as strong here as they were.
Then Trump got elected challenging the former folk wisdom. I believe that yet another revision of the folk wisdom is in order and coming soon, if however not soon enough to help in the midterm elections.
Time will tell.
The big problem with "science" recently, and still, is that it is just faith in science, not actual science.

They'd rather have their jaw broken in twelve places than admit that. They have faith that 1) the science is actual, and 2) the ones giving it to them are telling the truth.

Built by random chance. Is it bound to come in handy one day or what?

Built by random chance. It's a two-billion dollar Batmobile.

Built by random chance. Is it bound to come in handy one day or what? This is the B-2 Spirit, aka Stealth Bomber. It never has to enter enemy territory to fire ordinance. And it is difficult to detect on radar. 😇

And it is difficult to detect on radar. 😇 It is an example of science getting out of pace with other advancements. One criticism of the atomic bombs used in WWII was that they were too much science and not enough other wisdom. <Most of the R, F & S board goes "other wisdom ? ? ? ? ?"> With "stealth" technology such as on the B2, the F117, Cruise Missiles, and drones, there is the issue of how ethical it is to be so sneaky. As for the bombing of Japan in WWII, I don't like to imagine how that war would have ended otherwise. War can be like that, difficult to say which path is worst when they're all bad.

War and scientific advances often go hand in hand. Sneaking in means less chance of alerting the enemy, and hopefully provide quick means to end a war before it really gets going. The idea of developing robots that pick their own targets and decide whether to kill or not does seem a tad sketchy....😯

Hey Cash old boy, if you and The Eddy Crapper don't like the threads that Arlon does, why don't you start your own threads? Or is being part of the Peanut Gallery all you have to live for?

The big problem with "science" recently, and still, is that it is just faith in science, not actual science. It is a good job that we have a creationist like Arlon to tell us what actual science is rather than scientists themselves who, after all, can barely be expected to have looked into such things. The sciences of cosmology and geology, for instance.
How old did you say the earth and the universe are, Arlon?

...what was the question??? There wasn't one. Just some whining about science proving things that Arlon wishes were not true.
