A movie so bad they shot it twice
300m Domestic 350m OS --------------- 650m Total
Its a movie no one asked for, may revise predictions after a trailer
Please note this comes out May 2018, not December

Well, the behind-the-scenes trouble has reminded everyone this even exists at least.

I'm wondering why the House of Mouse is releasing this so soon on the heels of Infinity War...if that's any good at all (and with Marvel's track record, I can't see it not being pretty spectacular), I'd think it will steamroll this thing...as darkpast mentioned, no one even asked for a Solo movie.

They're on a roll box office wise with both franchises.

The troubled production, Last Jedi backlash, and the fact no one asked for this film could easily spell disaster for this film. Especially if word of mouth is bad.

This is the thing about Disney. They set this release date in stone and just rush the whole thing to completion
Same thing happening to episode 9...

The troubled production, Last Jedi backlash, and the fact no one asked for this film could easily spell disaster for this film. Especially if word of mouth is bad. I have to respectfully disagree with these points. No one cares about "the troubled production". "The Last Jedi backlash" only exists in the heads of people that didn't like that movie. And most movies are never asked for by anybody (including the first Star Wars). I still believe this movie will be on par with "Rogue One" at the box office.

I do agree with you that no one cares about "the troubled production". What people care about is if the movie is any good. And many films with troubled productions aren't very good and do struggle at the box office. Consider the recent "Justice League" movie. Like "Solo", it had a troubled production, a change in director, and extensive reshoots. It was savaged by critics and under-performed at the box office. I hated "The Last Jedi", and the backlash is as real as the keyboard I'm typing this message on. At this writing, only 48% of the audience liked the movie, per Rotten Tomatoes. And a statistical analysis of IMDb ratings reveals that "The Last Jedi" is officially the most divisive Star Wars movie. I admit that no one asked for "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle", and that movie proved to be a big hit. However, I have no plans to see "Solo" unless the Rotten Tomatoes audience score turns out to be impressive.

I'm looking forward to it. Always liked Han best. Got a doll I bought at some discount store for $5 back in 1978. Still have it. Sold Boba for $75 back around 1995. Just because you didn't ask, doesnt mean no one did. I was horrified when I saw the trailer for Thor. Not that the trailer looked bad, but I have loved Thor since 1965 & was sure they were going to ruin one of my favorite heroes. I loved the movie. Thor was wonderful & noble like I always loved since I was 5 yrs old out in the Inland Empire desert. We all know Ford is too old to play the character's origin, but all I want is a chance for a good movie.

Let's get backs 2 prediction. AOTC made 650 million WW in 2002 dollars. If Solo makes only say 700 million then this is a borderline flop.

Solo opens two weeks after IW and a week before Deadpool. This is still Star Wars but it's crowded. Very interested in how it will track.
