I don't think I'm accidentally clicking on anything or cursor hovering over anything, but at least three times today an ad has appeared over the text of the particular post or forum I'm on at the time.

This website does not use audio ads, popups, or other annoyances."we do not sanction these types of ads. No matter what site/forum you visit on the internet this can happen if these ads make it into the rotation of the ad providers. We take violation of our ad criteria very seriously and do our best to eradicate them as soon as we are informed." - Scott, ProBoards Admin support.proboards.com/thread/579224/advertisements-over-audioPlease report ad violations by clicking "Report Ad" at the bottom of the page. Thanks.

Here is something I would recommend for removing a lot of junk online... winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htmthat blocks a lot of junk online and it's SYSTEM WIDE to which means not only will it block a lot of junk from loading in your web browser in the first place but anything on your PC that tries to access any addresses listed in that hosts file will be blocked to. that list is updated about once every month or two with the most recent update being Nov 30th 2017. NOTE: that list is also something people can use in their web browsers 'ublock origin' (basically a better version of ADBlock) extension under it's options under 'Multipurpose' listed as 'MVPS HOSTS', which is not enabled by default, but it's better to do it through the website than through the browsers extension. but to install that... basically download the 'hosts.zip' from the link I posted and extract it to a folder on your PC and then right click the 'mvps.bat' and select 'run as administrator' and that's it, it's installed and working. to disable the HOSTS file simply run the 'RenHosts.bat' (NOTE: right click the file once on your PC and select 'run as administrator') from here winhelp2002.mvps.org/hostsfaq.htm#Renameso basically if by some chance you think that HOSTS file is interfering with anything, you can simply disable it quickly, using that RenHosts.bat file and see if the site your trying to use loads or not will quickly tell you whether that's at fault or not. but given my usage of it, it's unlikely to interfere with your general online activity. with all of that said... if your getting popups chances are you either don't have a decent ad-blocker in your browser or some junk got onto your PC that should not be there.

deembastille Trust me, anything blocked in that HOSTS file your typical computer user won't want touching their PC's anyways. it does not block legit websites but only junk/ads online. you can test it out for example by doing this... with the HOSTS file disabled this site will load... "www.adclick.lv" ; with the HOSTS file enabled you will find that your web browser will error and say page can't be found when trying to access that "www.adclick.lv" site.

Adblock. Does a world of good. yeah but then you get that 'can we talk' popup and this dude asks you to turn off your ad blocker. you can disable it for this site [and others that have a bug up their butts about adblockers]
