So you didn't know anakin would become Darth Vader. or Yoda survived and obi wan survived and would be exiled and luke and leia divided. You didn't know what ultimately was going to happen? I guess your prediction capabilities are way overestimated LOL THAT ALL HAPPENED!? You weren't paying attention... That's predictable...

Not in TLJ. She dosen't know what a jedi is, she dosen't know what to do with luke, she makes errors etc... There's still the force abilities thing though True, Rey is significantly better written, less "Sue-ish", in TLJ, she has to struggle for Luke's attention and not everybody becomes her cheerleader. But there are still strange things without proper set up and bending the SW universe. Also, I think you need an explanation for the overall character, including TFA-Rey. The only Sue-gripes in Last Jedi I had were: - Rey never sat on the Falcon turret (and does not like blasters), but with her first turret shot she can destroys 3 (three) Ties at the same time. She also seems to be the captain of the Falcon, with Chewie as her co-pilot (Chewie is not a dog, he should be captain after Han, why would he serve under a teenage girl he just met?). - No proper Force or saber training but yet she can fight and kill Snoke's elite forces admirably, and can lift hundreds of rocks/boulders at first try (whereas unfocused Luke failed to levitate a few despite Yoda's training) - She's a "first week" Padawan but in the end it's her on whose shoulders the training and further survival of the Jedi order solely rests, and Yoda and Luke seem to be delighted and at peace with that (she has the holy Jedi texts in her possession - she even gets away with that...). I think the only believable explanation covering all TFA & TLJ facts would be a superhuman entity, like those god mode Force entities we saw in the Clone Wars show (Mortis arc).

Yeah she's overpowerd still. But they are getting there I think. A step in the right direction.

That would make too much sense from a lore standpoint. And it doesn't follow Disney formulas. So it probably won't happen. I'd love to see JJ Abrams prove me wrong. I dare him. I double dog dare him. I triple dog dare him to reveal Snoke is alive, that he's Plagueis, that Rey was his apprentice from birth through early childhood because she's either a Palpatine or a Skywalker, that Rey takes over leadership of a FULLY FEATURED Knights of Ren, that Leia's death makes Kylo reconsider things, that an emotional, apologetic moment between Kylo and Force Ghost Luke finally persuades him back to the light and that he goes on to restart the Jedi Order. Jesus. Minus Rey turning, it's like every predictable, rehashy thing I feared happening in the sequels all in one paragraph. How did waxernboil like this post? Last I checked, Force Awakens sucked because it was a clone of A New Hope. With your Empire/ROTJ checklist, the rehashing would be complete. All that's missing is the First Order being defeated by porgs.

See? that's what i'm talking about... New ideas being thrown around, that makes me wonder what's going to happen next. Unpredictable. that or they have no fucking clue as to what to do next

that or they have no fucking clue as to what to do next Of course they don't. Since trevorrow left at least. i know... but it seems incredible that they had no idea streamlined for the whole trilogy. It's like they made TFA and seeing that it was succesfull they thought: hey, how'bout a sequel to that?

I don't know what's happening behind doors, but i think they started with a story for all three, the thing is, they left the directors make changes and then Carrie fisher died and then trevorrow left. I really liked the direction TLJ took but i guess it's making an 180 with jj. IDK. Maybe he'll find a middle ground that pleases everyone but i higly doubt it. I just want me to like it. I find it really difficult to judge a trilogy without it being completed. The PT is more than the sum of it's parts i think, LOTR was good from the beggining but again better than it's parts, the hobbit started more or less but as a whole is a disgrace, BTTF awsome, good, meh but as a whole pretty great, Matrix Amazing! utter garbage, utter garbage garbage as a whole ETC

No one invested...no one thought through an interesting trilogy arc. It's all yes men now, bending to Disney's will. It's probably going to be predictable. OK, prove it. Say what's going to happen right now, save this thread and if it happens how you say i'll eat my words and declare i was wrong and you are a jedi master. You caaaaan't! My prediction for episode IX... JJ Abrams will rehash the crap out of ROTJ. Episode IX will start off on Jakku. Leia has been frozen in carbonite. Everyone sneaks in trying to rescue her but fail. Rey shows up to save everyone and kill Unkar Plutt. But carbonite Leia somehow dies before ever being unfrozen. (That takes care of the issue of Carrie Fisher needing to make a living onscreen appearance to explain her fate as Leia). Then they all fly off to stop Kylo and blow up his new Starkiller Base. Yadda yadda... the end! Possible originality plot twists: Rey declares to the outnumbered 90% female Rebels that they don't need training, they don't need teaching. All they need to do is believe in the Force and believe in her. They all pick up lightsabers and instantly become Jedi. Canto Bight kids join the battle after being freed. Their battle contribution will be completely rehashed from the Ewoks on Endor. One of the Canto Bight kids wanders in on Rey and Kylo dueling at the end of the movie. Kylo attempts to kill the child until Rey reminds Kylo that Luke tried to do the same thing to him. (This will further reinforce Luke's image as a failure and a jerk that was established in TLJ). Kylo will stop his attempt and get very emotional. There will be lots of ambiguous hugging and kissing between Reylo. Rey will bring Kylo back to the Light. Kylo will declare he is eternally greatful and become Rey's apprentice. Everyone parties on a forest moon! The end.

I'd love to see Dark Side Rey. Me, too. I mean, why not? All the other villains suck.
