And the prequel star wars. Don't you think the biggest problems with the star wars after the original trilogy is two things: Unlike the originals they don't have a strong villain or a good score.
If you look at the original score almost all of it was memorable, contrast that the new scores which are almost completely unmemorable. And the prequel star wars and disney star wars are also similar in that none of the villians in those films have anyone nearly as good as darth vader, except for rouge one of course. I bring it up cuz nobody talks about those two problems.

Well Personally I don't agree because other than Empire and maybe Star Wars, the Disney films are better than the rest

I'm gonna say that at least 60% of why the original trilogy is great is because of the score, less so in return of the jedi. Some people may not think that they realize that, but their brain did. Don't believe me, try watching it without audio with just the captions on next time.

The music for Star Wars and ESB had a Korngold type of sound that Williams got away from (less flutes!). It was a big factor. The design of SW was too.
ROTJ had Jabba, and the Emperor. Design-wise they are not as unique as Vader or Boba Fett but the movie itself was messy and the ewoks diminished the tension.
The villains in the prequels were less interesting but the main characters were boring too.

No, I've never caught myself wondering about villains in the PT or VII... & it was merely Snoke & Phasma's detonations from existence that sucked. Darth Maul, Dooku, Grievous, Palpatine, Kylo Ren... I've liked them all.

Ok so apparently I'm alone in thinking that the best thing about the OT is the score used in it? Ok. I accept it.

I'm a huge fan of the original trilogy, but my honest opinion is that Darth Vader is an overrated villain. Yes, he has one of the great character designs of all time, yes, David Prowse's physical performance is graceful while intimidating, James Earl Jones's voice over work is awesome, he's got a great theme song. But he boils down to a guy that shouts orders while pointing his finger at people. It's not making an interesting point on fascism. He doesn't really portray any conflict until Return of the Jedi's script tells him to, and he really doesn't earn his redemption at all. Emperor Palpatine is just a wizard in a chair saying sinister things a in witchy voice. Bob Fett is inconsequential, Jabba the Hutt is funny, I really think Grand Moff Tarkin is the best villain of those movies honestly.
I feel at this point the villains are more unique. Yes, Kylo Ren was "Darth Emo" fanboy in Force Awakens, but Rian Johnson opened his character up a lot, and now he's almost this Ronin with Taoist tendencies. He's not simply just an evil guy anymore, he's a rogue with no master and control of an incredible galactic arsenal. Abrams can really go anywhere with his character and relationship with Rey. Rogue One actually features my favorite rogues gallery in the saga. It's the most accurate depiction of fascism. It's baddies are just old white men with no allegiance to anyone but themselves, stabbing each other in the back every chance they get for their own gain, all while there's this dark looming presence of Vader keeping them in line from a distance. How Vader was portrayed in Rogue One is how he should've been portrayed all along. He's a relic of the old ways reminding this fascist military dictatorship that there is still magic and consequence in the universe-- and his big lightsaber massacre at the end, just plain awesome.
