Flashpoint flopping? WW2 being a disaster? Both? Or will the DCU carry on forever, no matter what?  |

DCU? That's pretty' successful, the shows, animated films and comics work better than Marvel's. The DCEU movie universe is a mixed bag success wise: highpoints and lowpoints this year. If the next films (WW and Aqua) do not make enough money they will pull the plug on this universe and introduce new concept universes. They already got a multiverse with 2 Flashes etc anyway. IMO its the better and more creative approach as eg Batman should not be stuck with Batfleck for 10 films but we should get a detective, comic and Miller Batmen version as well. Dig that new avatar, should read sarcastically: ".. .for black people and monkeys". That would honor the raptor and his little pony followers' legacy.  |

If they're not making a profit from the film's then there really is no point in producing them.
It all comes down to the money.

Well, the DCEU was built on a flimsy foundation to begin with so it not doing so well is no surprise. The DC Heroes weren't meant to really co-exist the way the Marvel heroes do, and this laziness is why they use the Multiverse concept more than Marvel does.
WW gave them a booster shot, but whatever goodwill she brought them had already faded so we'll see how they limp on from this point.

I think we'll see a WW trilogy no matter what.
If Aquaman fails then I think future JL movies are out of the question.
But in any case I think they'll make Flash and Green Lantern movies. Because as long as they're good they'll make money. Superheroes are popular now, obviously, so I don't think they'll ever give up on making more solo movies. But the shared universe is one flop away from being over.
