"There's a bald maniac in there, and he's going ape shit!"What was supposed to be just another nice and quiet evening in the company of good friends, turns into a real nightmare, when one of the guests suddenly goes completely berserk, causing the lives of several people at the party, and the unlucky Jerry Zipkin (Zalman King) are the one who ends up being accused of committing the horrible act. In order to prove his innocence, a desperate Zipkin must take on the job as his very own detective by diving into a 10 year old secret only known as Blue Sunshine.Blue Sunshine is a chilling and very effective horror film directed by Jeff Lieberman who decided to take a closer look on the possible and frightening, worst-case scenario at the horrifying side effects of the flower childrens naive flirt with drugs and free love during the late 60s. The leading role played by Zalman King, would later on end up making quite a name for himself behind the camera, with delivering some of the most infamous erotic thrillers of the 80s and 90s, with Wild Orchid (1990) and 9½ Weeks (1986).

It's been awhile since I've watched it. A neat, low-budget horror-mystery from Jeff Lieberman. Creative story, disquieting mood plastered with shocks and Zalman King carries it.
Lieberman is the definition of a cult film-maker.

Lieberman is the definition of a cult film-maker. I wonder why he never became a bigger name in the movie genre, as Squirm (1976), Blue Sunshine and Just Before Dawn (1981) seems to be hailed by horror fans as cult-classics. I have yet to see Remote Control (1988), which is supposedly a horror-comedy, but I guess that I will sooner or later end up buying it.

I enjoy this movie a great deal. This and 'Squirm' are excellent 1970s pictures from Jeff Lieberman.

Although I don't know if I would call it horror. Felt more like a scifi retro-spoof on the old-school scifi.
