THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST was adapted from a novel instead of the Bible, which is why it wasn't grouped with the other Jesus movies as one franchise. It has a lot of interesting ideas scattered across almost 3 hours, when it could've been a lot shorter. Actually, most of them are concentrated in the last part. It has a very good music score, but the performances... They're not bad, but I feel the cast and Martin Scorsese abused the rule of historical movies that states that the characters don't have to speak like people did in the time period. The way they talk is too modern and it's distracting. 4/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.

7/10. It's a polarizing film to watch if you take your Christian faith seriously, but it does offer an exploration of Jesus's human side. Willem Dafoe was great as Jesus. The production design and cinematography leads itself to that classic epic feel, but the use of New York accents was off-putting and historically inaccurate.
